Happy WBW! I'm feeling techy— actually, I've just been fighting technology— so tell me some tech tidbits related to your world.

so! written magic can kind of function in a similar way to electric wiring, if you do it right. this can be difficult, since written magic also has material requirements that often take up a lot of space. No one has figured out a small magic-run steam engine yet, but they do have engines big enough for trains and ships which has made long distance travel a lot easier!

written magic as a method of creating indoor lighting and heating has also been around for a very long time, as the runes for heat, cold, and light are some of the first ones any writing system manages to create. with clever mechanisms, it's even something that can be turned on and off by writing the runes on concentric circles attached to gears that will turn to connect or disconnect the rune lines.

magic is not required for a hand cranked gramophone, those work pretty much the same way real life early gramophones did! they have wax cylinders, made from pixie wax. it's a much higher quality tempered wax than you could get from any other source, so the sound quality is also pretty decent. for a wax cylinder gramophone, that is.

and the pixies have managed to create a whole radio and telegram system. They're not sharing the secrets for how they did that, but it really just comes down to the fact that they are very small and well organized, so they can make smaller magic machinery than anyone else can with very delicate and intricate rune combinations. They also produce a silk material that is capable of channeling energy, which is very finicky to work with if you don't have tiny insect feet.

Inktober 2018 Day 2:

The Felidaen artifact is a construct of unknown origin and unknown purpose. She is sentient, but recalls nothing of her creators. She believes that she was lost or abandoned either before her first activation or before she attained full cognition.

While the original intent behind her creation is unknown, it did presumably have something to do with interdimensional pursuits; Felidaen both generates and exists within a pocket dimension, and she is incapable of leaving it.

Felidaen remained in a partially dormant state, largely for lack of any mental stimulation, for an unknown period of time. But eventually, a wandering spirit named Waehua discovered her dimension and awakened her in the process.

Felidaen is capable of projecting an animated likeness of herself in order to interact with her surroundings, but much like Felidaen herself, this projection cannot leave her pocket dimension. She is entirely incapable of interacting with the outside world in any direct capacity.

Okay, I refuse to accept that Cobra can hear telepathy. I love him, but no. It's fucking telepathy. I mean, he didn't actually intercept the conversation, so it's chill, but the fact that Hibiki suggested it is just... It's not allowed, okay?

Oh look that one thing from that couple of episodes right at the start of the series has appeared again. I don't seem to recall those SE plugs in magic powered vehicles ever being relevant after this, but at least they've appeared multiple times.

Lyon's immediate reaction was to save Gray, and that's fucking adorable. I was initially gonna say Gray and Sherry, but he specifically said, as he was falling, "The things I do for you, younger pupil." He did that for Gray. He did it all for Gray.
