MAKI MINAMI from MAGICAL TRANS! / MAJITORA!

JUSTIFICATION:

"Minami is the protag of the genderbending magical girl manga 'Magical Trans!', which is probably the most eggy thing I've ever read. Premise is that Minami joins a high school magical girl club that actually transforms into magical girls, which means genderbending into the magical girl Karii Maki for her, and she LOVES it. She transforms into Karii on a daily basis and usually not at all for magical girl reasons, but to try on dresses, go out in public as a girl, or sleep as a girl; claims, and I quote, "transforming makes my appitite better, sleep better, relieves stress, and helps with muscle and joint pain". There is a chapter where her friend is worried Minami's forgetting 'himself' and gets the transformation shut down and Minami becomes so wildly depressed the friend realizes she was being selfish, feels guilty and turns the transformation back on, after which Minami immediately returns to being cheerful. There's a moment where Minami sneaks into her mother's room to try out make-up, only to call up her friend crying because she doesn't know how to put it on properly. There's a chapter where she crossdresses while untransformed and gets wildly depressed at how she looks until she figures out how to make herself look more feminine. She looks at herself transformed in the mirror wearing the girls' uniform and thinks 'Is this heaven? Wow, this uniform... I look like a real girl, don't I?' and is SO happy walking through school in that uniform as a girl. I literally cannot sum up all the points in which she acts, talks and thinks like a tgirl we'd be here all day. And yet she's supposedly a guy. Ok. Anyway transition would save her." - Anonymous

When the discord server was first conceived, the aim was to create a safe space for trans* people within the Harry Potter fandom. As JKR has continued to show her true colours and perpetuate significant harm against the trans community, many of us have moved away from Harry Potter as a fandom. We have also, as fans tend to do, moved into new fandoms.

Over the past few years the server has served as a community for so many people and has fostered many friendships, creative collaboration and general fandom fun. We didn’t want this to be another thing lost to hatred and transphobia, and so after much discussion we have decided to shift the server - and this associated tumblr account - to all things fandom.

We have chosen the new name Trans Pants as a tongue in cheek reference to that age old question often thrown at us as trans* folk - and in this case the answer is community, friendship and fandom.

This community will remain a place to uplift trans* voices and celebrate trans* representation across all fandoms.

Those who are still within the Potter fandom are encouraged to continue to engage in discussion and fan works in this area, but it will now be one of many fandoms that we share a love for in this space.

We will continue to be a place for both trans* folks and cis allies, and will keep our trans-specific channels along with the general spaces within the server.

The changes are not ones that we take lightly and we want to make sure we are representing this beautiful community as a whole. As always please contact the mods at any times should you have questions, concerns or suggestions.

I don't know how much my brain will let me actually Realize(tm) this idea that I've got in my head, but I am just so absolutely enthralled by the potential that Magical Trans chapters 52 and 53 present as like... a self-contained premise.

Like. On their own, these chapters essentially trace an arc of an amnesiac girl. One afternoon, she finds herself wandering the halls of high school, not sure where she is or what her name is or even where she lives, but she does get a burst of recognition as she passes a club room. When she pops her head in to ask the students inside for help remembering anything, they quickly admit defeat. The girls in this club are magical girls, and our amnesiac protagonist has only ever talked to them as an antagonist, explicitly as a disguise relative to whatever mild-mannered alter ego she has in "real life". None of them even knew this villain girl went to the same school until just now when she showed up all of a sudden in uniform.

One of the club girls, the "manager", offers to give her a place to stay until she can remember who she is. Many Yuri Manga shenanigans ensue ("We're both girls, so why is my heart pounding so hard while she helps me clean my back???") but ultimately the arc resolves quickly when the club manager suggests testing if the girl's phone has a fingerprint lock function. This quickly leads our amnesiac protagonist to an unusual "transformation app" right on the home menu that has a "Shame Erasure" feature running.

As soon as our protagonist turns this feature off, she regains her memories -- her memories living as a top-of-the-class know-it-all app-hobbyist "boy". A flashback reveals that she had stayed up all night trying to write a feature that would help her forget moments that were making battles with the magical girls harder to endure (i.e. embarrassing shenanigans from other chapters in this gender-goofy comedy manga). She activated the feature in haste without any testing, however, and this is when her amnesia started.

So to extract the parts that inspire me, here: you're telling me that this "boy" -- who has already independently developed an app that can magically transform anyone into a girl and used it frequently for club activities -- when blasted with a memory feature meant to selectively target "shameful memories" with a wide net, ended up obliterating every memory about life lived in the shoes of a BOY???
