Spirit Doll Reputation Working Seriiiies?
The elongated ending, with slight increased inflection implied with the question mark, is because I’m not sure how many posts it will end up being 😝
I have a situation I’m dealing with, and I’ve decided to do something new - createing a spirit doll talisman to help influence others’ perception of me at a specific location (... okay, fine, at work. You dragged it out of me).
I’ll be posting, at least, the following:
1. A “scratch pad” post, where I’ll go over thought processes and options.
2. A final “here’s what I’m doing” post - hopefully including pictures
3. A follow up post with any updates on how effective it was.
The scratch-pad post should be ready soon (fingers crossed).
Crossroads Dirt and Pendant Empowerment
Those who have been following me since before [the great deletioning] will remember how I had a crossroads where I would do workings, but which was destroyed by the city through some local rejuvenation projects. I did manage to save a small jar of dirt from that crossroads, however, which has served me well over the years.
I try not to use this dirt frivolously since it can no longer be replenished, but I currently have this lovely raven skull pendant (recently purchased from @mackgooding-waldron ’s [Etsy store]) charging in this dirt - a very non-frivolous use, in my opinion.
One of these days I will get my Transaugmentation [Arca Arcanus] finished and I’ll be able to charge some some more dirt (albeit slowly) .. but that’s a ways off at this point (I have the box, but I’m still working on the needed glyph and sigil formulae).
Enhancing Paper
Here’s an idea for augmenting paper you use for written [amulets, talismans, or charms] (or… paper you use for anything, really):
Soak the paper in a special water bath keyed to the influences you will be using that paper for!
What I do is first isolate the theme/association I’m looking for. Since I incorporate Planetary Magick into my practice, this then leads to establishing correct planetary rulers and, by extension, correct timing and numbering for that theme/association.
I gather at least one stone, and then x-number of herbs/spices to use for the elixir (“x-number” because the exact number of components is directly linked to the numbering for the theme/association). As an optional component, I like to have water-soluble paint or markers, so I can draw magick squares, planetary sigils, runes, or other empowering sigils that will be added to the elixir (if I am replenishing some generic enhanced paper I like to keep in stock, I will draw these sigils/squares on scraps of that same already-enhanced paper).
I create the elixir using the stone and herbs (and any of the optional paper charms if it’s convenient) using complete immersion (since this isn’t going to be imbibed, I’m not worried about the solubility of the stone used. Note, however, you NEVER want to drink the water you create for this). I use the planetary/numbering information calculated earlier to help determine when I start the ‘brewing’ process and how long I let it ‘brew.’
Once the elixir is ready, I use the same planetary/numbering information to determine when to start soaking the paper, and for how long it should soak. Soaking time is also limited by the type of paper you’re enhancing - if you’re using very thin paper, you don’t want it to soak for too long because it could degrade the structure of the paper too much, so use your best judgement. Remember: You can still maintain timing by reducing to hours, or even minutes, if need be.
Once the soaking is complete, I take the paper out and let it air dry for a long time. Once dry, I use this paper any time I need paper for a similarly focussed charm/amulet/talisman.
Aremi is Live
The [Aremi Cauldron] is finally available for pre-ordering! As you probably remember, I’ve [posted] about this [before], and I couldn’t be more excited :D
[Pre-order now through their Indigogo page!]
It’s more expensive than I was anticipating, so, unfortunately, I can’t jump on this bandwagon just yet :\ But this is definitely something I want to get my hands on at some point. I know it may seem silly, but I think this might be a cool way to add a little “movie FX” flare to your work :D Or even a way to help aid in visualization, or even simply help as an interactive focal point.
I dunno ... maybe I’m getting a little carried away :P heh ... at any rate, it’s finally available to purchase, and I’m kind of excited about it :) hehe
Incantation Bowls
This is a pretty fascinating article, titled [Naming Demons: The Aramaic Incantation Bowls and Gittin], looking at these self-described amulets of exorcism and protection.
In Sasanian Mesopotamia from the fifth to the seventh centuries CE, clay Aramaic incantation bowls, commonly known as magic bowls were widely used to expel demons and protect houses. The magic bowls were produced by scribes who wrote incantations, divine names, curses and spells in ink on the surface of the bowl. Later, the bowl was buried upside down, usually in the home of the client who commissioned it.
One thing I found particularly interesting (and something I never would have guessed) is how the exorcism of a demon (either from a person or a place) was referred to as a divorce:
Many Aramaic incantation bowls present themselves, in various ways, as a writ of divorce (“גיטא”) to the demons who had attached themselves to the clients or the clients’ households. Some contain longer formulae and begin with the phrase הדין גיטא “this divorce document” – apparently referring to the entire bowl itself as a kind of get, while others only mention the divorce in a sentence or phrase.

War Water / Water of Mars
War Water (a.k.a., Water of Mars) has both malevolent and beneficial applications. In its basic state, War Water tends to keep one foot in the malevolent camp (which can probably be inferred by its name).
What follows here is a method of creating a War Mother - War Water Starter that, if kept in a cool dark place, should last indefinitely. This can then be used to create either a beneficial or a more specifically malevolent War Water. My own methods of creating each then follow the War Mother instructions. (Image above sourced from [this post]).
A Note on the Actual Water:
If you know ahead of time the exact type of War Water you want to create, or if you want to create War Mothers of both types to keep ready all the time, you will want to tailor the exact type of water you’re using. Here are some examples:
For Malevolent War Water use rain water collected during a thunderstorm, or water collected from a swamp.
For Beneficial War Water use rain water collected during a calm, refreshing rain, or water collected from a clear stream.
In a pinch, take tap water and filter it three times; To key it for Malevolent War Water, charge it with your own negativity and malice then let it sit under the dark moon; To key it for Beneficial War Water, charge it with your own positivity and let it sit under the full moon.
Creating your War Mother
This will serve as a constant source of War Water starter, which you can then take and modify to suit your specific needs at any given time.
What You Will Need:
Water (see above)
A Sealable Glass container (a mason jar or bottle)
Cut Iron Nails (This is important, as modern nails are almost always coated to prevent rusting.)
A cool, dark place to keep your water
What You Will Do:
Add the nail(s) and water to your glass container - A good ratio to keep in mind is 1 cut iron nail for every 4oz of water.
Seal the container and stick in your cool, dark place.
Shake the container every once in awhile.
Open the container now and then (as a suggestion, once a week) to allow more oxygen in to keep the oxidation going.
Let it sit no less than 5 weeks.
How You Use It: When you want to create a more specific Water of Mars, or even just use this basic War Water, strain off the amount you want to use from this War Mother. Then, add more water to the War Mother to keep it going.
Every time you add water, be sure to reset the 5-week-minimum timer. If at any time your War Mother develops mold, ditch everything and start over from scratch (you can salvage the nails if you clean and sterilize them before using again).
For Malevolent War Water
What You Will Need:
Water from your War Mother
Herbs associated with aggression and malevolence
Broken glass and/or sharp metal shavings
Your own urine
Sealable glass container
When You Will Do It: In order of importance - While Mars is direct, and the moon is is Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces.
What You Will Do:
Add the herbs, glass/metal, and urine to the container.
Slowly add the water from your War Mother to the container, focusing on your malevolence and its destructive force.
Seal the container and give it a tormentalous swirl.
How You Use It: Traditionally, you shatter the bottle at the feet of, or on the property of, the person with whom you are quarreling.
Alternately, you can set the bottle over a target’s picture, and use it in a more generic attack working.
For Beneficial War Water:
What You Will Need:
Water from your War Mother
Herbs associated with protection and defense.
One piece of Bloodroot.
Black Salt
Sealable glass container
(optional) Tag-lock for yourself and/or family/target
When You Will Do It: In order of importance - When Mars is Retrograde, and the moon is in Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius.
What You Will Do:
Add the herbs, bloodroot, black salt, and any tag-locks you want to the container.
Slowly add the water from your War Mother to the container, focusing on your peaceful calm and forces of protection.
Seal the container and give it a gentle swirl.
How You Use It: This is more of a protective talisman. You can keep the container on you, or in an area you want to keep protected. The black salt in this mixture will help it last a little longer by deflecting some of the negativity in the area, but keep an eye on this because as it mostly absorbs negativity, there is a limit to how useful it will be. The color will change to a deeper red/black as it absorbs all it can. Keep an eye on it, and replace as necessary.
I hope some find this useful. Personally, I really like making protective water of mars during the time when mars is retrograde, and I try to do it every year.
Snow Candles
Snow is good for magick involving transformation, balance, and purity. With snow candles, you can capture some of that power to use all year long! The following instructions are a modified version of those I found on the [Instructables site]. The image above also comes that same link.
What You Will Need:
Area of Snow (cold and dry) no less than 6-inches deep
Wax - beeswax, paraffin wax, melted down old candles
Candle Wicking
Double Boiler (or makeshift double boiler)
(optional) Coloring - Food Coloring or Wax Crayons
What You Will Do:
Create your mold by digging a hole in the snow - this is the basic shape your candle will take, so keep that in mind.
If you want, you can create and draw a magick circle around this hole to help augment the final product. If you have a steady hand, you can also carve sigils into the snow inside the hole so they would then become part of the candle when you pour in the wax.
Get your double boiler running, and add your wax to melt down. If you’re adding color using crayons, add them now.
If you’re adding color using dyes or food coloring, add them once the wax has completely melted.
If you want to add any other ingredients to the candle (such as herbs, powders, or oils) add them once the wax has completely melted.
Once the wax has melted, carefully pour into the hole-in-the-snow mold you prepared in step 1.
Stick the wick into the center of the wax, making sure it goes all the way to the bottom; hold onto the wick for a few minutes to make sure the wax thickens enough that it stays in place.
Leave this to cool and set completely - approximately an hour.
Once the candle has completely cooled and set, carefully dig it out from your hole-in-the-snow mold, and clean up any uneven parts to make sure it can stand up securely without falling over.
I live where there is no snow, so I can only live vicariously through my extended Tumblr family. If you make snow candles, I would love to see pictures! :D
