This is a Miniature Porcelain Portrait signed by Wagner - stamped on the back and signature by the right hand shoulder.

This particular one is called Daphne - Made after the Nymph Daphne in greek mythology - Apollo's love.

The hidden myth is that Daphne portrays Artemis ( Diana - The moon Goddess )

Eros shoots Apollo with 1 lead arrow and 1 gold arrow after being mocked, which symbolizes the Moon and Sun... Apollo then begins to chase the Nymph Daphne who has unrequited love for Apollo and rejects him over and over, to escape from Apollo's obsession she is transformed into a laurel tree.

Apollo pronounces his love to the laurel Daphne by saying - “Always my hair will have you, my lyres will have you, my quivers will have you, laurel tree. You will be present for the Latin leaders when a happy voice will sing a triumph and the Capitoline Hill will see long processions.”

I am obsessed with this piece. The colors and the face of Daphne is absolutely stunning!
