I'm going to be honest. All this controversy I've been seeing about the Magikeepers is dumb as it's clear that Nishi is clearly going to be addressing things like misogyny, conservativism and gender norms. I've been seeing so many bad takes and folks jumping to the worse conclusions.

The magikeepers do seem like fun characters and are an interesting way to add male characters into a female dominated world, but like, is it rlly necessary ???

So far, it's generally been depicted that the world of itw is a matriarchy, due to the fact that only women are able to use magic, but the addition of the magikeepers kinda ruin that by creating a tier of men that is probably, in terms of authority, possibly higher than what we've so far seen to be the highest rank, witches and authorities within that rank. This feels totally unnecessary because is it rlly necessary for men to be the witch police ? Like humans are human police in the real world, so why can't witches be witch police in itw ? They'd also have a huge advantage since they are also capable of using majiks themselves and would be better able to combat the misuse of majiks. One could argue that the weapons used by the magikeeprres we've seen so far might be stronger than majiks, but we've yet to see the full extent of the power of either side, and, unless the weapons have a no-women rule like how magic has a no-men rule, even if the weapons are stronger, it is inevitable that magic + that weapon would be stronger than just that weapon as it would open a lot more strategies and options and attack combos.

It also wouldn't make sense for the weapons to have a no women rule bc unlike the majiks, those weapons have forms that resemble man made weapons, and if they are naturally occurring, they would likely be similar enough entities to majiks that it wouldn't make sense for only women to use majiks and men to use the weapons. If they are manmade ther wouldnt be any reaosn to make it only accessible to men, and, based on the way the mantinel seems to function, i find it unlikely thst governments in that world would be willing to use technology of undisclosed methods since they would have no way of ensuring that it's ethical, and if they do have the methods, kt would likely npt be crazy hard to allow women to use it so unless a canon reason is given... it could create some interesting political clash if it turns out that there is a large difference between the values of the government and the Mantinel, and the man only weaposn were a way of ensuring that witches dont get too powerful in terms of military or political power. It would fit with the way real life men work, but the men in itw were probably not raiserd in a patriarchy sp they probably wouldnt have developed that kind of need for superiority or misogyny, if anything, id assume that misandry mgitj be a larger problem in the itw world, but idk. Were alreayd covering a decent amount of heavier topics especially in politics, and this is jump sooooo. (i dotn remember if the mantinel was the gov, but it seems like the magikeeprs are a separate entity from the mantinel, so I'm just going off of that pls correct me if I'm wrong).

It also might slightly invalidate certain points of libro and gokuraku's stories of wanting to use magic but being unable to because there is another more accessible option and possibly stronger option right there, especially for gokuraku since iirc, he wanted to use magic so he could get revenge on bakugami/bakjam. It might be classified, but the way the two magikeeprs in this chapter used their weapons so publicly, I don't believe that tl be the case.

I do understand that itw is published in a shonen magazine, and shonen jump of all things, so there's probablh push from higher ups or editors to include more male characters, but i feel like this wasn't a very good way to do this. Especially since we haven't been given any canon reasons as to why men are magikeeprrs instead of witches, as I feel like there probably would be some witches who would be interested in that position of law enforcement. There are definitely other ways to have introduced more male characters in unique, active, and plot relevant roles without putting them in a position of power over what was supposed to have been a matriarchy. Ik some people have already talked about this but I just wanted to write down my more specific thoughts on this.

82nd Hunt: Successors

How interesting that Minataka and Amadoro both inherited their abilities. There must be a lot of pride involved in families who have their magic passed down like that. We also have a connection between Minataka and Fujimine, but I wonder what the connection between Amadoro and Fujimine are 👀

I also love that between Ichi and Minataka, Ichi's not the only one who learned something in their short time together. Ichi taught Minataka to not give up on your goals, and now that they are reunited, they can learn more together 🥹 I love it!

I also thought it was amazing that Minataka only joined the Magikeepers 3 months ago, and he's already so adept with his Sacred Pillar! That's my man right there. He was meant to use this treasure. Speaking of sacred treasures, the shaka tree has interesting properties. So that's how they were able to absorb that majik.

Also love the color page with all the Magikeepers we know and their sacred treasures. I was not expecting Higarashi to have green hair, reminds me of Kumugi. We also have Minataka's full name! I think Takeomi suits him 😊

Ichi the Witch Chapter 81

After a week break, finally, Ichi the Witch returned with its new chapter! And to my delight, the very beginning of the chapter, the very first page, showed my beloved World-Hater Majik in a bad mood after reading Fujimine's message.

As I had suspected, Fujimine did attack the association to kill Ichi without World-Hater's permission. However, what surprised me was that in the editor's note (which was not included in the English translation but did in Indonesian translation), it was written,

"This is the witch who could deceive the God of Majiks!!"

Based on that editor's note, that means Fujimine wasn't simply going behind their back, but she actually tricked them into believing that she won't make a move on Ichi yet. It's understandable then why World-Hater looked so irritated. For Fujimine had the gal to deceive him, either she's suicidal or she's confident. I, for one, loved the way Fujimine just casually left a message and a live stream of her act. Her note was so silly and unapologetic that it's amusing. XD

This also once again brought the question what actually World-Hater is planning with Ichi. They threatened Sammy not to help Ichi, and then sent out Kizashi and Hitsugi to deal with him, and yet now he's not pleased with Fujimine trying to kill Ichi, but didn't show any indication that they'll interfere with her plan. World-Hater's interest in Ichi was obvious since their first encounter, but what's World-Hater going to do with him? They didn't look like they intend to spare him, and yet they didn't look that eager to kill him either.

The focus on this chapter, however, was Amadoro Ribboncandy, also known as the Bullet Witch. Turned out that she didn't attack alone, she also brought a few members of her family to assist in their assassination mission.

I can't say much about her as of now because not much was revealed about her yet. There's a speculation that she and her family were actually brainwashed or mind controlled by Fujimine because their eyes looked different from how they were shown in certain panels. I won't dismiss this possibility. If this was true, Fujimine was more of a formidable opponent than I imagined. I dreaded to think that she can just take control of other witches to do her bidding.

Gotta say, Amadoro was so cool! After seeing Ichi and Desscaras using blades as their weapons, seeing Amadoro using gun, and not just any gun, but a gatling gun, as her "wand", was a great change. The magic circles forming from the gatling holes made her attack even cooler!

However, the true MVP of this chapter, was Minakata! He truly showed off his capabilities as a Magikeeper by blocking Amadoro's attack twice, and also his experience as Ichi's very first mentor by effectively snapping Ichi out from his automatic attack on instinct by a simple but firm shout of halt.

True to his role as Ichi's mentor, he understood well of Ichi's bad habit in automatically responding to any bloodlust directed at him, and took quick action by both stopping Ichi from taking a further step close from their enemies, but also protecting him from the said enemy's incoming attack with ease.

The way Minakata reprimanded Ichi's habit and instructed him to watch and learn from him how to hunt witches was so commanding but not arrogant, seeing him like this made it the him who was easily baited by Desscaras' petty taunt was never there.

And of course, Desscaras didn't take well with Minakata taking the lead, and worse that Ichi was grateful for his help and even looked at him with clear admiration like a child waiting for his idol to start his show. Ichi looked so adorable, showing how much he looked up to Minakata. And from this, Ichi will also learn that from now on, not only he must just hunt Majiks, but he also must face hostile witches, his fellow humans, in a deadly battle. Does Ichi has what it takes to kill fellow human beings?

Desscaras needs to up her game if she wants to beat Minakata. Because while Minakata can be childish himself, Desscaras was even more immature. But I don't think she'll do anything stupid just to prove herself better than Minakata in this situation. She's experienced enough to know it's not the place and time. Good luck, Desscaras!

Again, I'm suspicious of Chun. I don't trust him in the slightest. I understand that it's an emergency situation with Amadoro attacking the Association directly, but to demand Moneygold to allow the Magikeepers to access the Association's whole HQ to find her? Sounds more like an excuse to execute his hidden agenda.

Chun's motive can wait for later, I'm much more interested in how Minakata will teach Ichi to "hunt" witches.
