Friends come together and fall apart under the pressures of the first war with Voldemort. A story about politics and friendship. Scenes across five Aprils, 1977 to 1981.

“Remus, who was taking Sirius' first Marxist phase in stride, was not surprised by Sirius' desire to live in a council flat. He also did not point out that ensuring accessibility to young wizards who had recently come into a small fortune was probably not a priority for Muggle housing officials. By the time I turned the last page, I knew that I would say nothing to the Librarians about that night. Who am I to point out the names of the perpetrators, if they have not yet noticed them? It is a simple enough spell hiding the crucial information; even a humble house-elf can perform it. Perhaps a researcher will find this tale and compare it with the official version. Perhaps He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named will be defeated again, and Peter Pettigrew’s lies will be exposed. Perhaps He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named will emerge victorious this time, and this book will be the sole record of what truly happened at the end of 1981.

Happy September 1, everyone. In the spirit of heading back to school, as student or staff, here's a mini podfic of magnetic_pole's wonderful story about the anxiety, tentative joy, and exhilaration of one's first day of teaching.
