Another rant. Just a small one this time.

JKR had so many maguffins in The Deathly Hallows that she actually had to use not one, but TWO EXTRA MAGUFFINS, (beaded bag and mokeskin pouch) so that our heroes are able to CARRY ALL THE MAGUFFINS AROUND WITH THEM.

Maguffins had more fleshed out characters but I could never make the worldbuilding work

The fun thing with uninanimates is no one knows why it happens and it gives no clues.  Bc, it’s not a story about why, anyway.

Maguffins have magic powers so I’m sure I can recycle them for the other verse.

But anyhoo, I did like this bit I wrote about a couple of kid twins who’s family fucking falls apart.

so the uninanimates universe wants me to play with it again

gosh, tho, i have this like, obsession, i guess, with turning people into household objects.  not sure really what it’s about, though i seem to have more interest in it when i’m depressed and more aware of capitalism.  i do like how, capitalism, as an antagonist, isn’t content to take everything from you- it wants to, somehow, fused you into itself as part of you and demand you give what little you have left.  for some reason the idea of being a lamp one day really follows my idea of capitalism.

the uninanimates universe sort of spawned the maguffins universe, bc i wanted uninanimates to do things that the setting wouldn’t allow them to do.  maguffins is- less depressing, but more of a horror vibe as you don’t become an object bc you died- you bc one because some jerk decided to tuck your body inside something impossible, which became your new body

uninanimates float and speak and think for themselves.  maguffins do all this but each one has a magic power as well.  and the rp happened and somehow maguffins became changelings(or changethings?).  personally, i find changethings to be a little more interesting than maguffins, because they’re children.  there is just, another layer of horror there.  

chances are, the maguffins universe is abandoned.  still though, it gave me bug!Winnie, which I’ll probs never give up on.  still though...imagine if I realized a changethings book and an uninanimates book.  like people would know i was weird, then.

the endgame for all my protags seems to be ‘becomes foster parent to some needy child’

Phillip’s original story had him taking care of a little girl, and in maguffins he adopts another hat kid

and ofc Nathanael adopts an entire freaking country

I think Winnie was really into superheroes growing up.  Probs even had a p good comic book collection bc he could afford that shit.

The hero he identified most with was Superman, bc he felt like the Kryptonians, who are far away and live in their immaculate glass cities, were like his parents, where the Kents where like his nannies

He feels like Kents actually raised him and the Kryptonians just sort of, shoved him into the Kents arms.  He feels like he’s very grounded despite coming from an elevated place, but that’s just his own opinion.

One nanny in particular really was like his mom, and she sort of had free range with how she disciplined him.  She would take him to places with working people and like, show him that the things he had weren’t actually free- that people struggled to make them.

He grew up appreciating the working class but also like, never really learning how to budget money.  So he’s the kind of guy who maxes out his credit card but also gives $200 tips.  Like, he kind of gets it, but he also kind of doesn’t.
