I simply feel that if someone walks into a bowling alley carrying a severed head, we should, at some point, see the severed head bowled.

…and, possibly, a spinning POV from the perspective of the severed head as it hurtles down the lane.

Like, I really enjoyed the episode, but that was a miss for me.

“No,” Cherry said slowly… “not innocent. You’ve seen too much to be innocent. Just not… dirty.” I love this quote from Cherry because it really summarizes Pony and Johnny in a way I feel the fandom sometimes struggles with. She's directly saying that yes, they've seen shit. They aren't innocent or sugary sweet, and she can tell just by looking at them that they are hardened in some way that has made a visible impact on them. But also, their pain doesn't cover them like dirt - it isn't drying on their skin and staining their clothes and drawing everyone's eye. It isn't a permanent, skin-deep pain that has hardened their exterior and tainted their interior.

Of course, it's just a summarization of what she sees. A general statement. There's nuance lost in it, the way nuance is lost in most summaries. Still, it accurately reflects Johnny and Pony's characters. While the fandom often looks at Pony and Johnny and sees characters who are soft, anxious, twitchy, shy, and helpless, Cherry sees them for who they are. They aren't soft, they just don't see a point in needless violence. They're not anxious and twitchy, they're on guard and tense. They aren't quiet because they're shy, they're quiet because they're thoughtful. Introspective. Observant. They aren't helpless, they're just constantly faced against people and environmental/physical factors that anyone would struggle against, and they still manage to power through.

It also feels important to note that S.E Hinton does this everywhere - adding in 'small' details and quotes that actually really add to either the characters, foreshadowing, main themes and ideas, or plot.

WHY would they include Will catching Robin & Vickie kissing, asking about dating, and mention Will not having kissed anyone before. WHY?

I'm living and thriving in the headspace of "something will happen to Owain when he travels to Birgrandia because he must cross Walesland to get there", and there's proof to back it up. Every time cc!Owen has gone away during an smp, he has come back swinging (be it a new off screen development for his character or just a new mindset/realization) and I don't see why Owain would be different. so far through the smp I've seen Owain's character be very focused on what he is like during the smp, not before, and if I were writing his character I would definitely show a little more of how he feels about his situation and past. speaking of his past, what writer introduces a main antagonist to a particular character, alludes to the character's hate to that antagonist, and then doesn't write a conclusion to them? that can go two ways: the conclusion to the characters happens to only one of their stories and is not carried out by the other character, or neither get a conclusion pertaining to their actual background and goals in any way. (i.e one way is to write a tragedy, and the other is to simply not write.) I love Owen's writing because it always feels compelling to me, and even from his admin pov, he manages to make a banger of a story. he is not a stranger to writing a tragedy, and has proven he won't NOT finish a character (tr!Owen), so I am very excited to see how this one goes down.

tl;dr: patterns in cc!Owen's writing foreshadows a bf!Owain lore drop when he returns from Birgrandia. I am happy

Guys ong wtf actually happened during those 18 months between seasons??!! What gave Will hope to continue chasing after Mike even though he was ready to let go of him by the end of S4??

This might be a stretch, but lwk what if Mike and El are already broken up. I mean out of all the people in the show, Will would be the one Mike would tell about this since we established they don’t lie to each other in the first episode with the “it was a seven” line.

Also guys we can’t forget all the Chekhov’s guns (specifically the painting lie) that need to be addressed. Was it addressed in the month between seasons?

While I always understood the meaning behind "Chekov's gun" I never knew the origin so for most of my education I was under the impression it meant Pavel Chekov from Star Trek, so I was just like "I dont know when he got a[n old-fashioned] gun but this makes sense otherwise" I just thought i missed him getting a revolver at some point when watching and didnt question it, especially since Sulu was shirtless swordfighting at one point
