Dear followers, As a finder of things unusual and being of somewhat limited mental abilities, I'm stumped as to the use of this wonderfully petite mahogany table with a handle. It weighs next to nothing and has legs to die for. How it has not been damaged is difficult to understand. The legs are 7/8" square at the top and taper to 3/8" at the bottom (chamfered eges on the ends). They splay nicely. The interior scooped corners are part of the legs and are mortised. The top of the table is 14 3/4" x 11 3/4". 25 3/4c" to the top of thre curved handle which has wood splines on both sides. 16" to the flat table surface. This presumably was carried to someone sitting in a chair and not at a dining table. A portable table to accompany a tea table? To bring silverware, crumpets, napkins ?? I'm sure my British followers will have seen such a thing many times. I have not. #hepplewhitemahoganything #mahoganytable @iowacityart (at Iowa City Art & Antiques) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeH9czEuC6r/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
