“That… and other things.” Weiss sighed and looked over at her computer, spreadsheet after spreadsheet pulled up from data on the SDC and how her father had been running the company on the screen. “I’m in charge of the SDC, I have you I need to stick by while we figure out how to help you with your powers, Atlas has its own problems… I’ve had to stop with huntressing for now until everything is settled.” 

“You say that like staying with me is hurting you.” 

“Its not. Its… this is all a bump in the road, but we’ll get through this.” Weiss kissed Nora and stood up. “In the morning we can do more training and tests. I… I think I know a way to help hold back your power for a bit until you can get used to it.” 

Nora winced and rubbed her wrists. “Not going to be like last time and those bracelets you had me wear, right?” 

“No, not this time. I need some time to go over my father’s notes and I can let you know more in the morning, okay?” 

“Fine.” 

“Good. Now get some rest. You need to let yourself heal.” 

Nora rolled her eyes and smiled a bit. “Who knew you cared so much.” 

“I’ve always cared. Even if it never looks like it, I always care about you.”

Maiden Nora?

Nora enlists Ren’s help in finding her Gram, if she’s even still alive. When they discover that she is and Nora catches wind of Ironwood keeping her in what’s basically solitary confinement, Nora gets reasonably upset. She confronts Ironwood, but she doesn’t yell. Nora is visibly not pleased, but doesn’t say anything more on the matter.

Later on in the week, Nora sneaks out of the dorms in the middle of the night. She’s careful not to get caught and makes it to where they’re keeping Fria. She hesitates for a minute before getting the door unlocked (she swiped Winter’s key card, knowing she was the only one who had access). She walks up to the bed, and gently wakes Fria. Fria of course thinks she’s Winter at first. Nora then explains that no, she’s not Winter but is her long lost granddaughter. Fria takes a moment to look Nora over, but there’s no doubt about it. Nora ends up falling asleep curled up with Fria that night, and when Winter comes in to do her daily check in, she can’t get into the room. Winter immediately goes to get Ironwood, and when they get back, Nora’s starting to wake up, only to find that Fria passed in the middle of the night. Nora pushes past him, and runs straight back to the dorms to Ren and Jaune and explains what happened.

When Ironwood realizes that Fria died in the middle of the night and they realize that Winter doesn’t have the powers, they immediately go looking for Nora. It wasn’t really difficult to locate her, and when they get into Team JNR’s room, Ironwood is already talking to Winter about the aura transfer. Jaune immediately loses his shit right then and there. He saw Pyrrah in one of those machines, screaming in agony and saw Amber lose the last of her life because of it. There’s no way in hell he’s letting them do that to Nora. He’s not losing another teammate, another member of his family, because they wanted things under their complete control. Ren is also visibly angry when he realizes what they’re talking about doing, and is holding Nora as close to himself as possible. Jaune is in between Ironwood and his teammates, not letting him get closer than he already is. Eventually, Ironwood takes Winter and they leave to let JNR calm down.

Ironwood and Winter continue their talks about the aura transfer, and JNR fills QRWBYO in on what’s happened. Obviously, none of them are going to let that happen to Nora, and Weiss is upset that her sister would even entertain the idea of doing such a thing. Jaune asks Nora where the transfer machines are, and she takes Jaune, Ren, and Ruby to them upon their request. The four of them (especially Jaune) waste no time in destroying the transfer machines. After all, it wasn’t really necessary. The Maiden powers were still under their side’s control, why did it matter who had them? Ironwood is obviously pissed when he finds out what happens, but resigns the fact that he’s just going to have to deal with Nora being the Winter Maiden and not Winter. He doesn’t like the idea of it having practically complete control over the situation, but he also agrees that it’s pointless to do the transfer, even if they could.
