It had been a stupid dare. A childish game that he knew better than to get into. What had possessed him to get inside a chest freezer and lay there? He wanted to feel accepted - like he fit in. Joining in with what seemed like a harmless game of truth or dare to make friends had ended up with him trapped and running out of time before he froze to death.
No matter how hard he focused, Eli couldn’t get the lid to budge. Eyes glowing, the male grit his teeth and frantically kicked his legs, hoping to shift some of the icicles that had formed and sealed the lid shut. Calling for help seemed hopeless, he couldn’t hear anything or anyone outside.
It was when his eyes started to fall shut that a slither of light came into the freezer, a flash of dark hair appearing as he was lifted out and placed on the ground. Hearing the woman’s voice, which sounded rather stern, he managed a sheepish smile through chattering teeth. “D-d’you have a blanket?”
