Hey… hey? Anyone want a modern au where everything is pretty normal except the city’s postal system is run by Eldritch Demons through actual Hell? I’ve been insane about this one recently.

Close ups I like.
Ouppy… Etho is essentially a kitsune and I was informed that they’re traditionally considered seductresses and who am to deny the bit. It just happens his main pull is being a social anxious mess. Zedaph is a very okay and normal guy I promise.
This impulse portrait I am so happy about… Rendog and his rom com shit… BUG.
So, I see l the ‘demons’ in the postal demon au, as technically being a bit more fae like than biblical demons. Them and the Nether are sorta fusions between being demonic and faeish. Pagan demons? They defy strict definition or cultural boundaries at any rate.
Also, btw. The demon political world is absolutely a bit miffed about PET postal; they get mentioned and all of the other demons are like “oh.. *those guys*~” but bo one messes with them because they’re pretty powerful entities, which is also the reason they’re considered weird.
They’re all totally of equal rank in the demon hierarchy, and demons of their rank don’t usually get so buddy buddy with eachother… like PET have other jobs that they’re supposed to be doing, so the three of them just tend to show up spontaneously, do their thing, and then immediately leave again cuz all three of them cre more about their Postal Service.
Anyways. PET demons centuries long ambiguous situationship. This does not change any previous posts.
In False’s description for the MailDemon Au you said Ren has multiple partners. Can I ask you they are?
Big Surprise I’m sure, is DocM and Martyn.
Doc: (Doc, Maddox 77)
- Doc and Ren got Las Vegas married, it was spur of the moment, they’d been close for a while and Doc definitely wanted to study Ren under a microscope a little bit:
“This man is an anomaly and definitely possessed/not human. I MUST STUDY HIM.” “Whatever you say dude!” - they were both severely drunk. (From Sere)
- it’s an open marriage, Doc is not upset about whatever Ren and Martyn have going on, just about the fact that Martyn’s a bitch. (They bicker, a lot, they might also eventually kiss though, it’s okay.)
- Doc is rather convinced that the “Salmon Mafia” (whatever that is…) is after him:
Salmon sushi appears on the doorstep— Ren: “Oh, hey! Rad my dudes! Free dinner!” Doc: *Hysterical ranting in German*
(He’s not wrong but no one tell him that—)
- Doc is x-military, hence his abnormally advanced prosthetics. He presumably got dishonorably discharged…
- He is in fact a doctor/surgeon and works a lot of odd shifts at the local hospital.
- he’s doing his best to deal with RK’s antics but isn’t that involved in the HOA tyranny stuff— at least not now.
- he is definitely peeved about the direction GigaCorp is shoving Ren towards though…
- despises the Permit Office, especially that Pesky Imp, also the Police force…
———
Martyn Littlewood:
- weird situationship with Ren/RK. He’s a bit of a jealous bitch but also has eyes and is in fact looking at Ren’s husband. (Flirting will definitely help ease this rivalry…)
- Unfortunately supports RK’s horrible tyrannical schemes. Bdubs is also trying to suck up to RK, but keeps getting ignored cuz RK has favorites (it’s Martyn).
- Martyn hosts then local radio show, he’s always down for some gossip and the Postal Demons are of great service to him in that sense, especially considering their relative omnipresence. He likes bothering Jimmy about it.
- Martyn and Cleo have known each other since forever (I need to fill in the backstory here… I’ll elaborate if I do a post about Cleo specifically later <3)…

Absolutely don't worry about it if you're busy, but after the Etho uncanny human-to-eldrich demon spectrum drawing/post for the PostalDemon AU, would you be willing to touch on Cleo?
She seems plot relevant to whatever extent there is plot, and has been mentioned in proportion to several other characters now.
The for the ask! I figured I'd wait to answer it till I had a solid answer to give, this was a good motivator for working out some of the details!
And Yes! Cleo is one of the de facto protagonists the way I see it (the entire idea came off of a clip of them and Skizz discussing the mail system).
Anyways, here's an essay and a half about her:
Cleo is the resident occult expert of Hermiton. She's the person you go to if you need help (or Zedaph, but only if you're really, really desperate...)
She charges money for her help though, and offers lessons (also for money)
She externally acts very unphased by the demons, but is secretly panicking most of the time. (And threatening bodily harm with such conviction that while it’s implausible she’d be able to do very much, they are actually a bit wary of her)
She works as an artist otherwise, sculpture mostly.
Her family has been in the area long enough to have landmarks named after her ancestors, and it seems as though her attunement with the paranormal runs in her blood. She's exceptionally sensitive to the presence of miasma that leaks in from weak dimensional pinholes. She can rip open the Mail system if necessary and has fallen into Hell on more than one occasion (only sometimes on purpose).
she can maybe resurrect small animals, and does charms and wards and that sort of thing. Pretty witchy.
Now the Juicy Backstory :
A few years pre-'plot' Cleo's life long fascination with the Occult led her to a summoning ritual. Unfortunately it didn't go too well and Grian (the demon in question who was summoned) cause quite a bit of damage. Notably Scar's life. Now, Grian was acting outside of the demonic bureaucracy's regulation, and therefore scar was revived and Grian punished (see my notes about that crew), but Cleo was not completely out of the limelight either.
PET was pretty upset about the damage done to their Postal routs and Cleo was indefinably banned from entering the Postal System, and Scar meanwhile has been holding it over their head a little bit. Small favors here and there. Cleo, anti-cop as she is, is very annoyed about this.
And Some 'Plot' Stuff:
Regardless of whether she wants too, I think Scar holds the 'incident' over her head to kind of blackmail them into working investigation on the disappearances.
As for Skizz, I think she suses him out fairly quickly, and is begrudging of him considering he's a Fed, but he probably comes to her for some advice about the weird shit going on and they team up to bust Gigacorp.
Thanks to @queseresere again for some bits a pieces!
So.. The Vex Problem?
While rumors of the mysterious Convex are floating around, and Skizz has become quite suspicious of what exactly this mysterious group entails-- he'll soon learn it's not quite as strange or occult as he first thought!
The Convex is essentially one of those super secret Gentlemen's clubs that rich people like... they play golf on the weekends.
Vex are demonic, but they're vermin, easily summonable nuisances and unfortunately their clubhouse has an infestation. Not all that surprising considering how much of a bother Scar tends to be to the PET Demons.
Scar Goodfellow:
The captain of Hermiton's police force, and an all around shady guy.
He tends to come off as a bit incompetent, even a buffoon, but he's much sharper than most people give him credit for. He catches onto the nature of the disappearances and advises Cleo to lend a occult-knowledged hand in the ensuing investigation.
Grian is under a debt to Scar for the duration of Scar's human lifespan since 'the incident' and Scar can pretty much summon him at will --Scar mostly makes him prank people-- though Grian technically works under Cub at the Permit Office as Cub is just about the only person Grian listens to.
"Cub":
Manager of the Permit Office
He probably used shady means to help put Scar in a position of Power
knows a thing or two about the occult but he is genuinely just a guy...
or like, maybe 0.1% primordial, either way he terrorizes Grian a bit.
He and Scar have that weird Bromance...
More Permit Office stuff:
Cub is the only person who doesn’t seem to mind Grian, Grian definitely minds Cub.
Grian only willingly listens to, and is mortally terrified of Cub. He swears Cub is not human, but something else.
The permit office is Grian’s domain, and has thusly become infused with backrooms vibes. It has that uncanny atmosphere.
Cub refuses to acknowledge that anything is wrong with the office or his one(1) employee. “Others have passed through, and I’m happy to hire, but they never end up staying for long. I mean, I get it man. The work is dismally boring and the pay isn’t great. Might be nice to get a change of pace, though" "It’s alright though, not like there’s much more work than what Grian and I can handle. We make do”.
(Everyone in town will tell you just to straight email the permit office higher ups rather than bother with the office at all… honestly, just skip the permit, this is a lawless town…)
The permit office is definitely maybe a front for something, Cub knows what though. (It's illegal fireworks 0_0).
Can I ask about Stress and/or False in the mail demon au? Plz?
You may! <3
I did have help with some of the ideas in this au, so thank my lovely collaborator @queseresere for bits and pieces of it.
Stress:
- Owns a tattoo studio across from Iskall’s flower store.
- Part of the neighborhood across, I’m sure she’s joined the resistance against Red’s tyranny over the HOA
- She plays the table top game (d&d equivalent) Iskall DMs, called Vault Hunters. They’ve had two demon problems, firstly Etho, a regular player of course who keeps charming Iskall out of shopping money. Also Hels for a bit there…
- some of her tattoos; a stress monster, and an iskallium monster of course; green zinnias for friendship, nightshade blossoms, some classic roses, spiderwebs, some little angel wings, etc.
- no one fucks with her. (Well, no one but Iskall of course)
False:
- she came to town a year or two ago as a supernatural hunter/exorcist. Her attempts at bothering the mail demons was so thoroughly dismissed that she was baffled and quite charmed by them.
- Red King on the other hand? I mean, keep your friends close and your enemies closer… I wouldn’t say she’s actively trying to exorcise him anymore, especially with both of Ren’s significant others breathing down her neck, but she did start the Anti-Red King resistance in the Neighborhood and is doing her best to rally the troops and generally antagonize him. She still has a bromance with Ren though.
- she teaches kids martial arts as her main job right now. She’s still for higher if you have a ghost or a minor demonic problem… Convex should really see her about that…
- there’s so many ghosts in the river… why are there so many ghosts in the river…
