The hoisin sauce that goes with these dumplings makes my mouth water. The sweet and salty hoisin sauce goes well with the savory pork filling. You can eat them as an appetizer or as the main course.
Ingredients: 1 pound ground pork. 1 cup finely chopped cabbage. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 teaspoon ginger, minced. 2 green onions, chopped. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 1 tablespoon sesame oil. 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. 1 teaspoon sugar. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. 1 package dumpling wrappers round or square. 1/4 cup water for sealing dumplings. Oil for frying vegetable or peanut oil.
Instructions: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped cabbage, minced garlic, minced ginger, and chopped green onions. In a separate small bowl, mix together soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper to make the dipping sauce. Place a small spoonful of the pork mixture into the center of a dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold the wrapper in half to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges to seal the dumpling tightly. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add dumplings in a single layer, making sure they don't touch. Fry until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and immediately cover with a lid. Steam the dumplings for 5-6 minutes or until the wrappers are translucent and the filling is cooked through. Remove the lid and let the dumplings cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until they become crispy on the bottom. Serve the dumplings hot with the hoisin dipping sauce. Enjoy your delicious homemade dumplings!
