👉🏻 featured artist: Tracy Ginn, Tracy was born in Old Greenwich Ct, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the Portland School of Art and Masters of Science degree from the College of New Rochelle. Traveling from Maine, Tracy discovered widely that urban inspirations were her creative passion and focus in her many moves from San Francisco onto Brooklyn and Manhattan. It was here in the city she found herself drawn to recreate the questions behind the arcane scenarios within big city life; just how to encapsulate the pathos, irony and humor permeating the everyday. Continuing art studies In New York City at the School of Visual Arts, Tracy expanded her art concepts studying painting, photography and illustration with Joo Chung and photography with Barbara Nitke. Returning to Maine in 2001, Tracy turned her focus on the Maine landscape with oil paintings incorporating a thick impasto technique. The lure of the city was not to be long vanquished and in 2007 she began a series of small oil paintings inspired by Indian miniatures which involved rendering from Polaroids of city people she took randomly in San Francisco and New York City. Using a glazing technique inherent from the old masters, Tracy creates a look to her work that is many layered and luminous with expansive color vibrancy. Paintings in oil are her focus, however her ideas involve several mediums including graphite, colored pencils, pastel, watercolor, and printmaking. Tracy has exhibited her work in local group shows, Aucocisco Gallery, The Maine Art Educators Showcase and the MECA Alumni printmaking workshop. Tracy's artwork is represented in art collections all over New England and California. She lives presently in Portland, Maine where she teaches art education to young students.
