Context: Yang and Weiss were out together on a stroll. Yang grew tired of all the walking and sat down to rest. Weiss offered her juice for Yang to drink but Yang took Weiss’ arm and move it a bit to the side and looks at her with an implication that she wants something else.
I’m sooooooo gaga for Freezerburn ;w; It’s just adorable and gives me fuzzy feelings inside, I’m in love with Weiss and Yang ;w; I’m sorry if a lot of the details are not as accurate as how they really are … I’m really not that good at copying. But I hope you guys like this work as much as I did ^_^
FREEZERBURN WEEK 2 (2018)
Day 3: Hot and Cold (Dec. 13)
@freezerburn-week
Context (I’ll do my best in writing this, it’s gonna be a fanfic...):
Weiss wakes up from her sleep to find herself in the residence of the two sisters, Yang and Ruby. She came out of the bedroom she was resting in expecting to see the two sisters she knows but once she got out, she saw a younger version of Yang who looked weak with face flushed red and a crying Ruby on her crib.
Worried she came rushing in and asked what’s wrong only to be glared at by the young blonde.
Yang’s expression showed hostility and it was enough for Weiss to know that this Yang doesn’t know her.
“Who are you and why are you in our house?!” Yang screamed at Weiss standing in front of Ruby’s crib.
“I’m Weiss, I was wandering and got lost into this place then heard a child crying so I got worried” Weiss explained wishing it’d work but to no avail, it only raised Yang’s guard up.
“Nobody just suddenly wanders into this area. I don’t believe you” Yang was all ready to fight Weiss as she gets into a fighting stance.
“Look, I don’t really want to fight. I really just came to he-”
The young blonde collapsed to the floor with heavy breaths and sweat beads form all over her body. Weiss approached Yang and touched the girl’s forehead which was very hot. Weiss worriedly carried Yang to the bed she was resting at earlier, prepared some cold water basin and a cloth to place on Yang’s forehead.
After placing the cold damp cloth on her forehead, Weiss went out to the kitchen to sterilize some bottles for Ruby. With a guide on her scroll, she was able to successfully make some milk to feed Ruby. Fortunately, the crying stopped as soon as Weiss fed her.
When Ruby calmed down and went back to sleep, Weiss went back to the room to check up on Yang. Yang was sweating bullets and was breathing a bit harshly due to the heat. Thinking that cooling the area would help, Weiss went and used dust to cool the room to alleviate the room temperature. Yang showed some improvements, her breathing stabilized a bit, and the amount of sweats she formed has lessened. Weiss let out a relieved sigh as she saw Yang calming down.
Confusion is an understatement to what Weiss is thinking about right now and she absolutely want an explanation to what is happening, but as of this moment her priorities are to make sure Yang gets well. Real or not, her teammates are her priority - or at least the younger them.
An hour later, Yang wakes up. With the recollection of the events that occurred and a stranger entering their house, the girl got up fast worried for her little sister. Looking at her side, she saw the stranger sitting on the floor by her looking at an album of some sort.
“What are you doing?!” Yang shouted out of spite.
“Me? Just looking through some of your photos I guess? How are you feeling?” Weiss closed the book and placed it on the floor to check up on Yang’s temperature. As she was about to place her arm on Yang’s forehead, the young girl swatted it away. Even for a kid, it was still quite painful.
“I don’t know who you are but I don’t need your help! I’m just fine. I’ve always been fine even by myself taking care of Ruby!”
Hearing those words stung knowing Yang’s past as she was told by the older version of the little blonde. Weiss knows it herself what Yang wanted the most when she was young. No matter how feisty and annoying the young blonde gets, Weiss has decided to stick through with Yang when she needs it, even if this “Yang” doesn’t know of her.
Weiss pushed Yang back to the bed to keep her from getting back up but the kid continued to struggle against Yang.
“Let me go, Ruby needs m-”
“I fed Ruby and she’s resting on her crib. You don’t have to worry about her, I’ll take care of Ruby and you. Trust me. I wouldn’t do anything to harm the both of you.” Weiss explained to calm Yang down but the young blonde still refuses to give up.
“No!” The girl removed the blanket and preceded to stand up.
Weiss knew she decided to stick through with it and as calmly as she wants to deal with it. The kid was getting on her nerves.
“You- Ugh! Even as a child you are so stubborn! Just give it up and rest already! If I wanted to hurt you or your sister, I wouldn’t take care of you right now! I could have just let you on your own when you collapse and I wouldn’t have fed your sister to get her to stop crying. Get that in your thick skull!”
“Look! You can be stubborn all want but you still have a fever. I know anyone barely helped you and you were forced to pick up the pieces but when you’re in need of help and someone is offering it to you. Let them or at least in this case, let me! Besides the baby might catch your illness too. Wouldn’t want little sister to get sick don’t you?” Weiss snapped at Yang.
Yang got quiet as she stared back at the woman looking at her intensely with her hand placed on her forehead. Deep down, she was happy about Weiss said. For once, there was someone who’d look after her not because she asked to, but because they wanted too.
“All this shouting will wake Ruby up. I’ll go fix up some porridge for you so just lie down and rest” Weiss said to Yang in a very calm tone as a mother talking to her child.
Yang finally obliged and tucked herself to bed as ordered. Weiss heads out to the kitchen to cook up some porridge. Weiss knows it to herself that she doesn’t know how to cook anything but with her trusty scroll which is able to find anything, she had nothing to worry about. Till she found out her scroll is dead (A/N: Assuming it is ran by battery... tell me if I’m wrong ;n;)
“Well... porridge is just rice, water and some seasoning of salt and pepper right? How can it go wrong?” Weiss started to panic in fear of feeding a sick child something inedible but got herself to calm down after giving her cheeks a slap.
“You can do this Weiss. It’s just rice, water, salt and pepper. You can kill grims. Cooking is nothing” Weiss started prepping for the porridge with hope that it will turn out just fine.
A few minutes after, Weiss was finally done and entered Yang’s room, holding a tray containing a bowl of porridge and spoon, to see her waiting for her apparently.
“I guess you can’t really rest with a stranger in your home huh?” Weiss thought to herself.
Weiss kneeled down on the floor, took a spoonful of porridge and started blowing on it to cool it down before feeding it to the girl.
“Okay say ahh~” Weiss said lifting the spoon leveled to Yang’s mouth.
Out of embarrassment, Yang said, “I-I can do it myself” and took the tray from Weiss and started eating.
“It’s bland” Yang complained with a straight face.
“Ehhh?! I made sure it wouldn’t taste to salty or spicy so I didn’t add too much of both” Weiss pouted to which amused the little girl.
“Well, it’s still edible so” Yang took a spoonful one after the other until she was able to finish it all. Weiss gave her a glass of water and medicine for Yang to take. After doing so, she took the cloth off of Yang’s forehead and dipped it on the cold water basin, wrung it out, before placing it back on her forehead.
Yang was finally behaved and she felt that Weiss was someone whom she could trust. Like Weiss had told her, if she wanted to do harm to them, she wouldn’t be by her side to tend to her.
To that, Yang felt very grateful.
“Uhm... Miss?” the little girl said to call out Weiss’ attention.
“Hmm?” Weiss looked back at the little girl with a now softer expression.
“I’m sorry for how I acted earlier..and thanks for taking care of me, Miss!” The young blonde flashed a bright smile she could muster at Weiss. Yang was truly grateful for all her effort because even if they were strangers (in her perspective), Weiss took care of her.
Weiss not knowing how to respond to the child’s gratitude, let out a very a nervous response. “Eh? Uh - It’s nothing. Don’t mention it...besides, you deserve it anyways...”
Yang couldn’t really hear the last bit since Weiss started to mumble the words, but Weiss’ expression amused her and wanted to tease the older woman “Miss, you’re pretty cute aren’t you?” she said with a cheeky smile on her face.
“Sh-shuddup and go back to sleep!” was all Weiss can say to respond.
Yang did as she was told and positioned herself properly in bed comfortably. She looked over at Weiss which caught Weiss’ attention.
“What is it?” Weiss asked.
“Will you leave soon?” asked the little girl with a sad expression on her face.
“I won’t. I’ll stay with you.” Weiss placed her hand over Yang’s hand to give her an assurance. Weiss was gonna remove her hand until the little girl held her hand and said “Let me hold your hand...it’s a bit cold and your hand right now is really warm miss”
Weiss couldn’t help but let out a chuckle remembering her nickname.
“What’s funny?” the girl inquired.
“It’s just that, people used to call me the ice princess you know. Some even joked about me being cold and yet here you’re saying my hand feels warm.” she explained.
“Well ice princess or not, I’m really glad to have you here with me. You make me feel really warm” the girl brushed her cheeks onto Weiss’ hand. Weiss smiled at the little angel in front of her who has started sleeping soundly.
She traced her hand onto the girl’s golden locks and whispered, “You may be alone now and you might encounter some hardships in the future. But believe me, there is a future wherein people would be around you, love you, and care for you. All that you wished for, remember that I will always be here for you Yang.”
Weiss felt her eyes getting heavy, she was starting to feel tired with everything. Giving one last look at the face of the blonde in front of her and whispered, “I love you dearly, Yang Xiao Long. Until we meet again” and then her eyes shut off.
“Weiss!”
“Weiss! Wake up”
“Weiss!”
“Huh?!”
Weiss stood up from her bed. She looked around to see her three teammates looking at her with worry. In front of her were the two sisters she knew and not the ones she thought she had been with.
“I see, it was just a dream” Weiss whispered to herself.
“You finally woke up!” Ruby exclaimed.
“Are you okay, Weiss? We’ve been waking you up but you wouldn’t budge” Blake said.
“Thank goodness though..” Yang let out a sigh of relieved. Weiss took a glance at Yang and it looked like she was really worried.
“You really do like to worry huh?” Weiss said to Yang.
Yang gave a puzzled look at Weiss with her sudden statement.
Weiss couldn’t help but feel a bit sad realizing that it was all just a dream but seeing that she’s back with her team again and seeing all of them, especially Yang just fine. It’s all she could ask for.
“It’s nothing. Thanks for watching over me” Weiss gave them the brightest smile she could muster, just like the younger Yang in her dream gave her.
It’s a dream she will always remember.

The End.
--------------
So yeah that’s it. I’m not a really good writer but I tried my best to write it nicely ;n; I hope you’d enjoy it. I really was just gonna post the first image as a play on the idea that Yang, the hot-headed chick got a cold. But the idea came to mind and I wanted to create the story out of it. I was planning to have a gif compilation of things like the second image I attached but unfortunately, since it was an idea created on an impulse, I didn’t really have much time to work on it especially since I have classes tomorrow and will be back late in the evening (to which I plan to prepare for the upcoming prompts). So I give you a written version instead. When I have the time (hopefully over at winter break), I’ll try to make a doujin out of this story. But I ain’t making any promises, haha.
But I do hope you like this story and happy freezerburn week to everyone~!
[P.S. It’s currently 2:33 AM/Thursday as I post this, so technically it’s already on the third day here]
