She’s tired. So much so she doesn’t even realize she’d fallen asleep on the couch she’d taken refuge on. Although she could normally make it to her bed without a problem in the world, today felt like she’d gone up against every monster in existence before they burrowed into her bones to weigh them down. It would’ve been the wiser choice to go see Stein or Naigus, she knew. Despite knowing this, she’d gone to seek solace from the unhinged terror in her chest in the warm walls of her shared home. A place of peace, happiness, a quiet little pocket in the universe wrapped in riveting jazz and thrumming bass. Its as though a baku was devouring the nightmares she was sure to have had, leaving her in dreamless slumber as her bruises flourished and her blood clotted around wounds. Truly, she was thankful for it in some subconscious way or another.
Its only when she hears the soft click of the door that she finds her cranium alight with images. A fresh scent of home lurking nearer and nearer as she feels fingers too steady to be trembling thread into red tinted blonde. She can hear the breathing, sparse and tense as it closes the gap to listen to her own. Perhaps she exhaled then to state she was indeed alive, an unknown gesture given to hopefully offer some form of solace to the fingers that were once so still and calm. Quietly her name reverberates through the hollows of her thoughts and she wonders who would be waking her from her safety in this dreamless escape. (Maka, Maka, Maka.) She hears it like an echo resonating through to her soul and she knows, she knows she has to part those paint strokes of lashes from her cheeks to make sure everything’s okay.
Green hues come into view and she can see the urgency wrapped up tight in the frown that curled his lips. (Where was that usual smirk and grin?) She’s almost forgotten her own state of being, the crimson streams and bubbles gathering above where her arm lay strewn across her waist. “What is it, Soul? Are you okay..?” Tiredly, she stares up at him with worry of her own till it comes to her. Those images, flashes of just hours ago when she’d been so determined to fight with all she had like she always did. Had she even remembered to clean up? No, she’d been too tired to manage it. Pale pallor, but not dangerously so, her features light up just a bit more when she smiles. “Soul..?”

“I think those reports were for nothin’,” she spoke mostly to herself as she looked up towards the building she was sent to see to. An inn that seemed to have a congregation of spiritual beings, one that had worried a certain overzealous shinigami for apparently nothing. She’d taken quite a lingering look upon the souls, using her perception to integrate in and see what exactly was going on before approach-- Yet nothing seemed out of sort nor did there seem to be anything to worry about. Even so, she was never a slacker and figured it would be best to actually go inside and investigate. It was a good thing this was an inn as well, seeing as she was looking to get out of the summer rains if she could too. So she’d made her approach, cautious but welcoming as she slipped inside and made sure to stray from touching anything since she was a bit wet given her hat could only protect so much.
It was odd that there’d be a concentration of spiritual creatures but none of them seemed nefarious so she wasn’t too worried for the moment. “Hello! Is anyone here? I’d like to stay for a bit if you’ve any rooms available!” Calling out, she didn’t move from her spot out of respect for not wanting to track water everywhere and possibly cause a hazardous situation to arise. Green hues peered around in silence as she waited for what she hoped would be a response from someone of the living, examining everything around her out of curiosity without budging from her place. It seemed homely, warm and filled with kindness. Maybe this was a safe haven or something? It wasn’t completely unheard off for souls to congregate where they’d be safe from harm or shitty phantom monks looking to eat them after all. But that begged the question of who was looking after them.

“Wrong again! As if I’d get dressed up for some lecher,” words depart her lips as she huffs with mild annoyance at his questioning. “I’ve got a date with Eruka tomorrow! So I was trying to figure out what I should wear.” Even she had her moments. Granted, she wasn’t really one to be concerned about such things, she simply wanted to try out a different approach! Jeans and a hoodie only went so far after all. Even if she wore them all the time. It seemed like a nice change of pace to wear a rockabilly flare dress, though she knew she’d inevitably pair it with a leather jacket and her boots. “And before your wild imagination gets away from you, its not that kind of date. Though I wouldn’t mind that either, one has to admit she’s cute with those little markings on her mouth and when she pouts with those big eyes of hers.” The meister certainly never had a problem being honest most of the time. Maybe she should’ve changed back into her pajama pants and tee shirt before getting started on dinner where she knew Soul would see and raise question about it. “Does it really look so alarming on me?”

There’s a momentary pause in the woman’s steps, her eyes honing in on something truly extravagant. What kind of soul was that? She wanted to know. It was neither witch nor weapon nor human, nothing she had come across before even spirit wise; of course she was curious. There’s a delighted hum in her throat and though she always practiced caution, her insatiable desire for knowledge and understanding often compelled her to be more reckless sometimes. (Though she didn’t need much to be reckless, if anyone asked Soul.) When she finally managed to close that long gap, she reached up to push her wide brimmed hat from her eyes and looked up with a bright smile. This creature was so big! Even a golem would have a hard time comparing, she thinks.
“Wow! You’re so cute!” She’s mindful even of where she stands, not wanting to crush any of the beautiful flora near her feet but definitely wanting to learn (if the other was willing) about this divine find. “I’m sorry if I startled ya, I saw your soul a while away and got curious~ Is this your forest? I was out for a walk so I hope I didn’t disturb ya any?” A walk would be a leisurely stroll to anyone else, to her though it was a hike and a trek as well as a climb.
“Whatever ya assumed I did, I didn’t do it.”
