Make Do Without // Donghyun & Boa
It was late but Kwon Boa was never one to give up on anything. The minute she’d woken up to what felt to be five in the afternoon, she’d been trying to identify various plants by memory, using smell and texture alone since taste could very well kill her or make her especially sick. It was arduous and exhausting, having found that she’d used her sight more than anything when labeling and memorizing plants. Her mother would be completely disappointed in her for her lack of knowledge and ability. Even with her murder, Boa could hear her mother's disapproving yet encouraging tone in the back of her mind. Come on Nadya, it's a simple task. I know you can do it, just work harder.
With an angry sigh, the weretiger rubbed at her temples and scowled. How was she supposed to do this? How could she function in this world without her sight? The first few weeks were depressing but she had been hopeful that she could overcome it. Now, however, things didn’t seem so bright. The perpetual darkness in her vision appeared to mock her with its overwhelming deepness, taunting softly in a way that only became abundantly clear in moments like these. Was it possible to go insane in complete darkness even when it is known that the world around you is joyous and bright? Maybe that “when” should be changed to “especially”.
After another hour or two of struggling, she sat back from the table she’d been working on, bordering on being infuriated. The only thing that was stopping her from lashing out was the exhaustion that seemed to consume her. One step forward, two steps back. It was a dance she tired of. Sure nothing I the world was easy but why did everything have to be so damn hard? It made her head ache. One day the tiger was going to snap, and she feared the consequences of that event. Until it happened, however, she would just continue moving forward.
