A Little Introduction
I’m going to be starting a more blog-like area on my Tumblr dedicated to longer posts about creativity and lifestyle (you can access it here, although there aren’t any posts up yet besides this one). So, I wanted to give you guys a little “About the Blog” post before I start actually posting next Tuesday.
My goal is to help all women find their inner creativity, but especially those of us with chronic illnesses.
Having a chronic illness really puts a damper on any kind of passion that we might have. I pretty much gave up my creativity for the first couple years of my chronic illness. When I started to get a hold on my life and could sort of navigate my health, I decided I wanted to really dig into my creativity.
I was disappointed when I could only find one good source for being creative with a chronic illness. I just wanted more. I wanted someone to tell me that I could still be creative and that I could balance my health with my passion.
I couldn't find that and so I decided to create my own oasis for creativity. I want all women to feel like they can create. Even if it's just for you, you can still fit in little creative acts throughout your day. Time is our enemy. With chronic illnesses that put us in bed for days at a time and careers and children and everything in between, we need an escape.
It can be something as small as playing with Legos or as big as splattering your feelings over a 10-foot canvas. The decision is up to you, whether you want to cultivate your creativity or not. If you don’t think this blog is right for you, please at least try to work some creativity into your life. It helped me find my reason again after losing it for a couple years.
I hope, even if you don’t have a chronic illness, that you’ll join me.
