Author: Tamara G
This past Friday Make in LA opened its doors to the public during their launch party. All us makers have been waiting with anticipation to hear about the companies that will be going through the acceleration program. The party was equipped with a DJ, food, drinks, a tour through the facilities and multiple booths from local tech companies.
Hexlab Makerspace
With a 3D printer running, the booth had items that were 3D printed, laser cut and mold based. Hexlab is a community workshop that gives members of all ages and backgrounds access to the tools, classes and materials needed for prototyping.
RAD design
Providing industrial design expertise, RAD design can take your idea and make it into a full product. From basic finishing touches to an end-to-end projects this company can help get your prototype a step closer to the market.
Indiegogo
“Indiegogo empowers people to activate the global community to make ideas happen.” Providing a platform to raise funds and access to a team that will guide through your business plan, Indiegogo has helped hundreds of idea makers receive the funds needed to deliver their product to a broader network.
Recently Indiegogo stopped by the CrossCampus Pasadena where hardware makers showcased their campaigns. A Bluetooth enabled water bottle, a wristband tablet and nano rechargeable Bluetooth headsets were some of the highlights.
Sabio.la
Providing tech classes to those looking to expand their coding knowledge, Sabio.la provides a variety of bootcamps ranging from front end, back end and API development.
Other booths showcasing their services included Neo Tech, RKS, Ctrl.la, Acrobotics and Alas Media.
Make in LA’s accelerator program helps startups to focus on the team, the technology, the market and the manufacturing offering mentors and the space needed to take their products to their next step. Four startups from around the world were welcomed to the first class offered by Make in LA:
