Everyone loves to scream about state’s rights until it comes to holding states accountable for not being proactive/progressive wrt human lives

In this case, the state legislature has been doing great since it came in! But Cuomo is too much of an asshole to go with it. Did you know he’s *still* trying to stall on enacting the bail reform legislation? Like, some of those people in Rikers now would not be there if he hadn’t been dead-set on overriding it, and wasn’t currently ‘putting it off’ to ‘deal with the emergency’ or whatever the fuck his reasoning currently is (oh, and using hate crimes against Jews as a shield for his foot-dragging).

have you ever felt like you had a “mind-meld” with someone?

I often feel like Kiddo and myself are mind-melded. We are very alike and often are “on the same wavelength” so to speak. There’s a lot of “OH MY GOD! I was just gonna say that!” when we’re hanging out.

Outside of my kid, my BFF I’ve had since highschool. We tell people we are “connected at the stupid”. There’s a whole brain cell between the two of us. We are dumber together and it’s a beautiful thing.

The last few holdouts I can remember outside of the dmv area were on the turnpike rest stops. But they disappeared years ago, now. I miss their spirally fries so much

Those were SO GOOD. RR had the good shit; technically McD’s had better regular fries, but they didn’t have curly, so it wasn’t actually a contest! Fries were always my biggest thing with fast food; most of it really didn’t do much for me (I liked fried chicken, but I liked other kinds of chicken a lot more), but fries fries fries, every kind of fries! Spicy, curly, cottage, shoestring, steak- wedge- and thick-cut... and when I was a kid, I was even willing to tolerate crinkle-cut or waffle if they were the only options. Spicy and curly (and spicy curly) were always my favorites then, although now I prefer Belgian and wedge. 

I don’t remember them being on I95 specifically, but then again, by the mid-90s I was either going between NY/DC by train, or going shorter distances and therefore not bothering with the rest stops at all.

I didn’t know that! Although I guess I never really saw them much outside of my area, and Maryland. And those were mostly gone by the time I started high school (there were still some in the area near my summer camp).

Between cats and the horror show that the sonic movie has turned out to be (from a labor perspective, never mind the actual visual horrors on display), we’re already there. What I’m already too tired to hear is the whinging about lost artistry as opposed to the consistent fucking over of workers in order to produce a Fordian nightmare

Oh, exactly. Granted the original sonic design was a monstrosity but how they dealt with it is a baaaaad precedent. They looked at Telltale Studios and AAA game Crunch and said, “we can be worse.”

If that movie does well it’s gonna become standard practice I fear. :(
