Jen!! I tried your makeup suggestions, and my makes up looked so good for church this morning!! ❤️ Used a water-based moisturizer that works well for my skin, and I only used primer around my nose and chin. My foundation laid so well and looked great!! 😘 thank you!!
Ahhh!!! Yay! It’s hard to assess people over the internet. It’s funny because when I have clients and ask them their skin type, some will say I’m oily, and they’re sitting in front of me, and I know they’re lying 😂 but I am glad that it is working out for you!
I’m like helpless at eyeshadow so do you recommend any like easy starter things? I was looking into maybe just buying single shadows or a liquid shadow that I could pop on quick and easy? Thx for the help ❣️
i am such an eyeshadow lover so you have come to the right place!!!
This is gonna be long so..
Here’s the thing, buying singles eyeshadows are usually more expensive than getting a palette…
ok, if you live in the US i really recommend Colourpop when you get more comfortable with makeup. They have so many palettes so when you get your tastes down they’re a great place to go for affordable and great shadows! They have these single shadows that are the only single shadows I would ever buy. They are this delicious soft powder putty-like formula that is so hard to explain but when you feel it you understand.
if you have an Ulta by you, they might also have Colourpop in store. however, they are mostly online. Click here if you want to look into Colourpop palettes.
at the drugstore in the US, like CVS, i would recommend going to brands like Milani and Wet n Wild for shadows. m m m nyx
If these are not applicable to you, I just recommend you getting a small nudes palette to get comfortable with eye makeup then venture out! There are so many different little palettes from these brands to check out. Please look up reviews online before choosing!
Wet n wild has a great eye shadow primer, i’ve heard. I have not used it much personally, but it has great reviews from beauty vloggers and on the ulta website. It helps so much with getting shades to stay on and look good!
I dont love any liquid eyeshadows really, ive never had luck! but if you get good and want to start venturing into glitters, there are a lot of glitter eyeshadow toppers out there that will be great!
I hope this helped! :)
Send me an ask if you want makeup recommendations!
Ok so I never expected to be making a brow tutorial thing but I guess it’s happening lmao, I recently changed how I did my brows and my life has been like 5894584 times easier so I hope this could help some of you guys out too!
I used to draw my brows on the good ol’ fashioned way (see: freehand with a lot of time and patience) but the results weren’t always as nice as I would have liked them to be, especially if I was pressed for time. I’ve tried eyebrow stencils before for fun but they were never the brow shape I wanted, and were usually too long for me. I ended up just making up own lol:
It’s made from a piece of paper, all I did was mark where I wanted the brow to start and end, drew a straight line for the bottom of the brow and a parallel line above it that tapered down to meet the bottom line (I prefer straight brows, but you can make any shape that suits you!) You can use this stencil for both brows, just flip it when you switch brows :^)
This is what my brows look like before I fill them in, all I’ve got on atm is just foundation
Using a few strips of masking tape (less sticky so it’s easier to remove) I just kinda. Slap that shit on my face where I need it
This is the brow powder that I’m using, it’s just two darker brown shades with a lighter brown shade. I’ll be using the one on the left and the one on the right
So using a wide eyeshadow brush (it’s easier to use a medium sized brush just to fill it in quickly) with the dark brown, I start from the outer corner of the brow and pat the colour on. I like to concentrate most of the darker colour near the outer corner, then bring it towards the inner side. This kind of creates a little gradient, and the inner corner will be less solid which I prefer since I like the inner corner to kind of blend out. Using a little bit of the lighter brown, I just lightly brush it across the inner side to middle of the brow so it’s kind of like a dark to light brown gradient u feel
Note: make sure not to pack too much pigment on or it’s gonna look like you sharpied your brows in lmao
Remove the stencil and realise that it still looks kind of bad
(If you’re cleaning your brows up, you can shave down any hairs that appear outside of the shape you have at this step 👉👉)
But do not fret, my friend! The next step is to clean the brow up: I use a skin-tone eyeliner and a brown brow pencil to just neaten up edges and extend the outer point a bit more to my liking
And there u have a brow congratulations I’m proud of you 💕
is glossier any good? ive heard a lot of reviews and theyre polar opposites, either really good or very bad...
I don’t actually own any glossier, but what I know of it is that they’re face makeup like foundation and concealer are VERY light coverage almost too much for me, not something I would invest in cuz they are a fair bit expensive. But some of they’re products are really interesting such as the cloud paints, those are something I really like and want, they’re glosses and the boy brow are really good as well, worth buying for sure. They’re lip products are nice, but pretty basic, kinda same for the bronzers and highlighters. Overall they have nice makeup, it’s all incredibly light coverage and natural, but price wise some of it is not worth it for me. But if ur into that kinda makeup then you could really like some of it!✨ Xx
does anyone have recs for not super expensive very bright eye shadow palettes?? like not neutral colors at all but something like the urban decay neon palette??
First and foremost what is your skin type (dry/oily/combo)? Do you have skin concerns (acne/rosacea)? What type of coverage do you prefer (light/medium/full)?///
Combination definitely, dry in the fall/winter and oily in certain areas during the spring/summer months. I have PCOS so acne pops up from time to time but it’s not full break outs, mainly on my cheeks or jawline. I do have eczema around my eyes in the winter. (Not too bad). I like medium coverage, hide some of the extra reddish undertones I have but still look natural.
Okay, here's what most MUAs will tell you about primers...are you ready for this? We don't really use them. It is true, most of my clients I don't use primer. And when I do it's Milk HydroGrip Primer. It is a sticky primer and it clings to your foundation. I only use this on people's nose. Unless they tell me their skin is just difficult, then I'll put it all over.
Instead what I, and a ton of others, use is the Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre. The biggest part of makeup is making sure your skin is properly prepped. Not the priming part. But moisturized. There are some moisturizing primers that I love; Bobbi Brown Face Base or the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. Both them were also MUAs, so you see where this way of thinking is. It's not about primer. It's about the skin prep/skincare.
No, if you choose to use a primer you have to make sure it mixes well with the foundation. I wouldn't use an oil based primer (GXVE) with a water based foundation (MAC) because oil and water don't mix. MAC Face and Body (along with Studio Sculpt that they recently discontinue 🙄) are some of my favorite foundations to put on people. I'm not big on full coverage all over. But obviously just try prepping your skin. Moisturize. And maybe try out that Embryolisse moisturizer. I would be about 80% of MUAs have that in their kit.
Anyone know which makeup brands you get in Paris? Or which ones are available at Paris Sephora?? I really wanna buy from Tarte, Stilla and Milk makeup in specific if those are available!! Xx✨✨
