How are you ? I hope that you are very good as usual. I am so sorry for abandoning my blog for an entire month, but I am a student again, and January/February is dedicated to my exams. I aced them both so I am back to write about a look that we are going to use in three days: Valentine’s Day Makeup 2016.

MAKEUP FOREVER ULTRA HD hacks.

Okay, so as we all know, MUFE decided to shatter the game and create an even better foundation for the new technology in HD cameras. This foundation works in 4K ultra HD and what that means is basically, I can zoom in 4x into your skin and you will still look bare faced and flawless AF. 

However, I ran into a few problems when I first started using the product and really didn’t like it when I first applied it. I was lucky enough to get some insider tips and tricks on the best ways to apply the foundation and why it works best in that particular way. This is right from the mouth of the pro-artists (at least in the NY region!) at Makeup Forever: 

1) If you’re using a Skin Equalizer as your primer, specifically for color correction, apply with a flat foundation brush to make sure the color correcting primer is even throughout the skin and is completely dry before you apply the foundation. Then apply your primer or equalizer for texture. Let them both (or whatever primer you used) to sit for a minute to really set into the skin to reduce redness, sallowness, discoloration, or/and texture. 

2) Less is more, I believe it’s one pump or two pumps is good for the whole face. Start with one and go from there. 

3) THE MOST IMPORTANT HACK/TIP: Use the ‘tap and stretch’ technique. We were trained on this when the foundation launched. This foundation applies best with a flat foundation brush BECAUSE the pigments in the foundation are encapsulated in spheres. The best way to describe it is like, the spheres are like the little eggs you see on top of sushi, if you apply too much pressure, they pop. You don’t want these spheres to pop or you get a less even and airbrush looking coverage. You do not want to use a beauty blender or a buffing motion or else the spheres will burst and the foundation will not lay as evenly on your skin or evenly over texture. SO, subsection of three is as follows:

- Take some product onto your your flat foundation brush and tap it where you need the most coverage, this normally the center of the face or where you carry the most ‘hot spots’. 

- When you’re satisfied with the coverage, take your flat foundation brush and pull from where you just placed the product and stretch the foundation to where you need less coverage. Sort of like pulling from the center of a flower to the petals, the perimeter of your face being the petals. 

- If there are parts of your face the need extra coverage, do not be afraid to tap more where you need it, but stretch the edges out to bled. If applied right, it should all look even. 

4) Give the product a few minutes to melt if you have dry or textured skin. This foundation does the opposite of ‘baking’. The way it’s made allows it to melt itself to the skins temperature and even itself out over time. So if you have dry or textured skin, give it a couple minutes to smooth over the texture and you will see it have a different effect than before. This was my biggest issue with the product! I hated the finish! But I didn’t apply it right, nor did I wait to set it. 

5) You don’t need hella powder, just roll the powder on with either a soft kabuki brush or a big powder brush. But remember, I said roll. You wanna be super gentle when setting so it doesn’t get gross. Like I said before, wait a little bit to set so you can really let it meld to your skins temperature and type. Let them become friends. Be one with the Ultra HD, BE THE ULTRA HD.

Christian was all about Ana biting her lip, and now we can all have just-bitten rosy red lips, thanks to this tie-in lip pencil, lipstick, and lip gloss from Make Up For Ever, bundled together in the aptly named Tease Me Lip Set in Passionate ($32,Sephora.com). There's also an "Innocent" set with beige hues.

To achieve that perfect skin Ana was famous for, Down says she used Make Up For Ever's HD Foundation ($42, Sephora.com) on Dakota Johnson. She mixed it with a bit of moisturizer, because "on camera you want to show a little underlying sheen and shine on the skin."

OPI never fails to jump on the hottest trend, so obviously, they have a collection of polishes inspired by the film and with fitting, witty names to boot. There's "My Silk Tie" (gleaming silver), "Romantically Involved" (creme red), "Dark Side of the Mood" (charcoal), "Shine for Me" (shimmering silver with subtle blue sparkle), "Cement the Deal" (stony, cool gray), and "Embrace the Gray" (chic, moody gray). The polishes are sold individually for $9.50 each, or you can grab a six-pack of minis for $21.95 at Ulta.com.

'Fifty Shades' Massage Candle

From the official Fifty Shades bath and body line also comes this massage candle ($15.99, Target.com), laced with Christian's signature scent and enriched with coconut oil and jojoba, so you can use it as an aromatic candle or a massage oil.

Make Up Forever HD Foundation REVIEW

So I've always heard a lot of positive things about this foundation. I know everyone is kind of in love and obsessed with it. I have been wanting to try it but there is no sephora in my area. So on the 4th of July I drove out of town and drove to a sephora a couple hours away and got samples of this foundation. I tried it in 127 and 128. The makeup artist had matched me to 127, but I preferred 128, which is "almond".

The color is awesome, and the range of colors they have are amazing! This is one of the few foundations that is easy to find a perfect match in. 

so let's start with MY experience...

The foundation itself is VERY smooth, some what thin, and very buildable. I like that it is easy to spread. I use ecotools kabuki brush for my foundation, i dot it all on and do some what of a stippling motion to get it all over my face, and then i buff it out.

In MY experience, I found it to be thinner than my usual foundations. I go for LONG WEAR foundations because "a little goes a long way" and it does not transfer.

THINGS I LOOK FOR IN FOUNDATION: Good lasting power, does not rub off easily, does not transfer to clothing (especially when hugging someone or laying on them), does not feel greasy or too oily, NO whitecast (as i take lots of pictures), and a good color match.

This did have good lasting power, It did rub off and transfer (VERY minimal though). I wasn't really touching my face or trying to make it rub off, but when i layed on my boyfriend i noticed a slight transfer onto his white t shirt . oops!

I wore it all through 8 hours of work and it lasted all day.

It is weird because I can't really say if this is for DRY or OILY skin. I don't have dry skin, but my skin isn't oily, BUT can get oily with product on it.

So this foundation was kind of weird because it accentuated a dry spot between my eyebrows and by my  nose, yet it also was very dewy. Too dewy for my liking. The color looked natural but i didnt like how shiny my face kept looking. even after multiple touch ups, i looked shiny and sweaty when i wasnt. I took pictures and that made me look even worse lol.

When i wore both the 127 and 128 i kept taking pictures in different lighting, natural sunlight, and with and without flash. the 128 looked better. the 127 did kind of give off a SLIGHT white cast. i know they say this stuff is good for photos but it DOES have titanium dioxide which DOES HAVE SPF! I say if your tan, it is better to go a slight shade up for photos instead of making your face whiter.

I also LOVED that these are TRUE tan colors. most of the time foundations that i buy OXIDIZE which turns ORANGE. i hate looking ORANGE especially since i don't fake tan. These colors are truely tan and do not oxidize. They have shades for multiple undertones (if you go on their website they will specify what color goes for what undertones)

i hated that i was constantly having to put powder on. It sucks because it really is so hard for me to match my color. i am so anal and OCD over the color of my face, and i loved that these colors match "to a TEE". They have sooo many shades to choose from so it is super simple.

I just didn't like always touching up, having dry spots on my face, and looking overly oily and shiny. 

NOT my HG foundation...as much as i would like it to be. If i wasn't on such a tight budget, i'd probably buy this when going out, just because it IS so hard to find foundations that don't give off white casts these days.
