She doesn’t even remember how she got into the cart. Callie was smiling at her and she blinked. Then they were moving….at dangerous speeds…down the aisles…ALL OF THEM!!

(Had a few issues with this one do had to use some creative work arounds haha)

first time logging into splatoon in a few months and whY IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT MAKO MART

An Outing to MakoMart continued

“So here we are. This is the place.” Turquoise indicates with a listless wave of her hand. “Best go inside before we miss the match. The turf area should be just on the right as we go in.”

They enter and soon enough find the stage nestled in the aisles, where a few jellyfish are eagerly anticipating the start of the match. Kit takes in the sights of the supermarket and notes the bright colours, along with the bustle and noise of the area. As she observes, some streaks of green and pink land in the spawn points, signifying the imminent start of the match. Her sister seems fidgety and unfocused, as the players rise up out of the ink and prepare to start the game. It kind of makes sense why her attention might be drifting, as she’s probably played more turf wars than Kit could count, having been here for so long. She probably doesn’t find spectating to be as entertaining anymore. And then she notices the change.

Her sister is suddenly tense, staring and looking like she’d rather be anywhere other than here. Her stare seems to be locked onto a member of the green team, who is currently surging up into the middle area, weapon brandished. She then notices Kit’s attention and averts the gaze, suddenly becoming very interested in the crate of inflatable bouncy balls next to her, doing her best to hide...but from what?

The match plays out like any other she’s seen on the tv, with the tides of colour shifting and pressing against each other, almost like two parts of an animal. The green player in particular stands out, gracefully holding the middle and effortlessly splatting any who cross their path. Funny, considering the weapon they’re using is probably one of the heaviest available.

At last, the match ends with the players all crowded in the middle, all vying to try and claim the middle, with the green player actually in a bit of a pinch for once. As the Judds move to tot up the score, her sister gets tense again. Before she can do anything like hide again, Kit confronts her.

“Something here’s got you uncomfortable, hasn’t it?”

Turquoise looks at her contritely, accepting that she’s going to have to say something.

“I...wasn’t really prepared for this. Honestly, it’s best you forget this happened. Now, we should grab the stuff we came for before it gets dark.”

She slinks off, giving Kit no option but to follow her. The rest of the outing goes without incident, other than her sister’s occasional furtive looks around her, and they gather the supplies.

Dinner is some instant noodles, due to Turquoise’s inability to cook anything more complex than that. The rest of the evening is spent with her sister explaining various things about Inkopolis life, albeit with a helping of faked vigour. As she’s laying on the bedroll they bought earlier, she realises something. That look at the turf battle was a look of recognition.
