I agree with Olivemeister about the true intention of Ging's question. However, I don't think Ging has a valid reason to believe he knows his son and his wishes, but he acts like he does. The fact that Gon approached him in the election hall can mean Ging's assumption was wrong. Perhaps Ging is mistaken that Gon is more similiar to him than he actually is.
