Seeing him in her shop is always TORTURE. Why he insists on coming around here when he doesn’t need anything is beyond her. No, scratch that, she knows EXACTLY WHY he comes around. The bastard does it on purpose, to get under her skin.

The dragoness’ eyes narrow at the man before her from her spot behind the counter. “No, never.” It’s a lie and they BOTH know it. He’s always on her mind, always at the forefront, she MISSES him. God help her, she misses him, so much so that her heart aches painfully in her chest simply by looking at him.

Too bad she’s too stubborn to admit it.

Jay is too loyal for his own good. He tells her he’s not going anywhere without her and she rolls her eyes at him. She’s been able to handle herself on the Isle for a long time, she’s not some damsel in distress, but he insists and it makes her huff in annoyance. “I can take care of myself, Jay.”

There is something about his words that bring her some sense of satisfaction. It means that this time, it is she who has affected him - made him jealous even when she called Ben ‘babe’. It’s a simple enough nickname but it’s something she called Harry a lot.

Ben is nothing to her. A means to an end, someone to make Harry jealous with - not that he needs to know that. A wicked smile curls plump lips upwards - she’s enjoying this far too much.

Truthfully, Mal doesn’t know what to think of this. Can she be trusted or is this just some sort of trick? One can never be too careful with the kids of the Isle, they’re all wicked in their own ways so it’s hard to trust anyone from the Isle outside of her circle. “Why should I trust you?”
