Evie's compliment causes a smile to pull at her lips and she does not bother to hide it nor does she bother to try and hide the blush creeping upon her cheeks.

There is something about the way Evie is looking at her that makes her heart flutter in her chest. It makes her feel adored. It's different than the way Ben looks at her and it makes her heart soar.

"It's nothing special." Just an outfit that Mal isn't even sure she likes that compliments her hair. She's tired of dressing up in dresses so that is not what she's wearing right now, she doesn't want to play the Princess or Queen anymore.

"But, thank you, Evie. That means a lot to me, especially since it's coming from you."

There’s a smile that curls the corners of Mal’s lips upwards. Evie’s smile is contagious and beautiful, so much so that Mal can’t help but smile. She doesn’t even know what she’d said to make Evie smile but she’s glad she’s seemed to cheer Evie up. “Good. I like it when you smile.”

Seeing him in her shop is always TORTURE. Why he insists on coming around here when he doesn’t need anything is beyond her. No, scratch that, she knows EXACTLY WHY he comes around. The bastard does it on purpose, to get under her skin.

The dragoness’ eyes narrow at the man before her from her spot behind the counter. “No, never.” It’s a lie and they BOTH know it. He’s always on her mind, always at the forefront, she MISSES him. God help her, she misses him, so much so that her heart aches painfully in her chest simply by looking at him.

Too bad she’s too stubborn to admit it.

Jay is too loyal for his own good. He tells her he’s not going anywhere without her and she rolls her eyes at him. She’s been able to handle herself on the Isle for a long time, she’s not some damsel in distress, but he insists and it makes her huff in annoyance. “I can take care of myself, Jay.”

She should have expected Evie to find her. Somehow, she always has a way of figuring out exactly where she is. This time, it's nowhere near the castle and instead by a small lake. She had needed to get away from everyone. Everything had become so overwhelming.

It's stupid too. The reason why. This life is arguebly ten times better than life on the Isle and yet, sometimes she misses it. As awful as it was, it was home and there were no expectations for her there.

He head tilts upwards to look up at the still standing woman before she pats the spot beside her as an invitation for Evie to sit down. It's on the ground so she doesn't know if she wants to but the offer is still there.

"I don't know why I try to hide from you." Mal says in amusement, lips pulling up into a small smile. "I'm fine. I promise."

Oh - this text was not meant for her. Should she text back? It’s not that the feelings aren’t returned, they very much are but - she doesn’t want to embarrass the girl by not texting back. Ignoring it, though, might have an entirely worse effect.

Amusement shines within her eyes at his confession. It's not surprising, they do a lot more studying here than they ever did on the Isle so maybe it's time to take a break. Do something else for a change. Mal could use one as well.

"Then don't think about anything. Let's find something else to do."
