Amulet of Health

The first Magical Item listed in Mal’s Spellbook is the Amulet of Health. This amulet can be anything that you desire, it is not one specific item, but a tool to create/acquire for your witchcraft. This amulet can be a stone, an object, something glamorous, something ancient. The important part is that it is something that you can have as close to the skin as possible so that the effects will take place faster. To charge the amulet, place it in the sunlight for a few moments. Then wrap it in a cloth until night. Then place it in the moonlight for a few moments. (The moon phase doesn’t matter for this, the moon is always there, even if you can’t see it.) Say the following: Powerful amulet, bathed in moon and sun, Protect me from illness and disease, all year long. This amulet of health is mine, and mine alone, to ward off any harm; protect me, soul and bones. Wear the amulet on you as often as you can. Refresh in sunlight or moonlight or as needed

The Main Issue I Have With Janelos

Listen, if you ship janelos, that’s great. I’m not here to hate on anyone for shipping their ships.

I’m just explaining what turned me off the probably-intended-to-be-adorable couple. Besides the fact that carlos radiates gay panic like ninety percent of the time, Jane is also a bit of a difficult character. In the first movie, she is clearly very insecure. She’s overshadowed by her mother’s greatness and feels very, well, plain (Plain Jane, anyone?). That by itself isn’t horrible at all. Plenty of girls are insecure and Carlos himself is probably pretty insecure, too. However, she also turns on Mal when she finally finds a spot among the Mean Girls (aka Audrey and her crew). In Mal’s spellbook, Carlos writes to Mal:

“At least you got back at Jane by undoing her hair spell, Mal. She can’t make fun of us and also benefit from your magic. That doesn’t seem fair. Nobody talked to me in Heroism today. Nobody talked to me in Basic Chivalry, either. They all just looked right past me and Jay like we weren’t even there. This whole thing makes me want to crawl in bed with Dude and not come out until the Coronation. Dogs are amazing because they never judge you.”

This shows that Jane has now put herself on the opposite side of the VKs. Carlos doesn’t like feeling judged and is completely okay with Mal taking her revenge. For the jaylos shippers, it also shows how Carlos and Jay are isolated together, pushing them closer together.

And is Jane a bad person? No. She just wanted to fit in. But for people who spent their whole lives as outcast and unwanted and abused, taking sides against them is, on the whole, something they don’t forget.

Bead of Force

The second Magical Item listed in Mal’s Spellbook is the Bead of Force.

This bead can be made of any material, though plastic doesn’t have quite as much oomph.

The materials from most powerful, to least, are as follows:

Metal

Gemstone/Shell

Wood

Clay

Plastic

Liquid (beads of sweat, beads of paint, dewdrops)

Beads of Force are multi-purpose. You can use them to add power to a spell that you’re creating, such as a sachet. You can sew them into clothing that you’ve charmed to be armor. You can use them in prayer work, by adding a few beads of force to prayer/rosaries in order to propel your prayers to the Gods/whomever you pray to. You can also wear them like jewelry as part of glamours. You can create as many beads as necessary, either singular or by the strand. They can also be used for cursing either singly, or in conjunction with another curse - leaving a singular bead in your enemies space will have enough power to fuel your curse. When ready to create the Bead of Force, gather the bead(s) in your hands, hold your hands close to your heart and say the following: Bead(s) of Force, your strength is unmatched I forge you now with the beat of my heart, Fuel my spells, my anger, my love For good or for bad, accelerate my power from above. You should only have to do this once, but if they need a boost, hold close to your heart, or wear them on a pulse point.

Boots of Levitation

The third Magical Item in Mal’s Spellbook is Boots of Levitation. These boots can be actual boots or another pair of shoes that you’re most comfortable in. The act of levitation is a little different in the mortal world, where magic from Auradon t isn’t as potent. Most often you will only see a spring in your step, instead of actual levitation. Either way, this can be useful when running from enemies, running to catch public transportation, or when you simply need to try to give yourself a mood boost. Choose your pair wisely, as this charm is very hard to remove, although there should be no reason as to why you would want to remove this charm, as there are hardly ever any negative side effects. When your pair has been chosen, repeat the following: Boots of Levitation you now shall be, gifted, charmed, for eternity Put a spring in my step, lightness of foot poised and filled with grace, for whoever looks.
