I reckon Vimes would love to get his hands on Polly Perks and Maladict and make Watchmen out of them. They way Polly thinks, evidenced by the way she takes down the messenger, convinces the rupert to listen to D'Worde, questions Jackrum's methods of dealing with the messenger and the way it doesnt sit right with her, are all things Vimes looks for in a watchman recruit. She's smart, thinks outside the box, can have a nasty mind when need be -- which will help her think like a criminal -- has a strong sense of compassion that she doesn't let blind her to the realities of the situation. She questions authority just enough. Maladict: Smart, as they rightfully pointed out ''they've been asked to join up, not to stop thinking'', could very well be the ''fenrir or maladict'' that was in the family tree of the D'Magpyr so very very well connected, a black ribboner ie defo well connected, and vampires have a bunch of other skills of their spieces that make them very handy watchmen, ie Sally von Humpeding. (Vimes doesn't mind vampires in the watch as long as they are far away from him. ) Im surprised that he didn't try to recruit them in some form or another.

I like the ship between Maladicta and Polly, but I had kind of liked the dynamic of Polly going "oh, I must go off to war and save my brother, but I must be careful my secret isn't revealed or I will DIE," only for her entire squad to either be gay, trans, a cross dresser or the subject of creepy pasta. On the other hand, I also quite like this dynamic.
Maladict: (is a charming and handsome vampire who is nobby and very much a force of chaos)
Polly: Oh?
Maladicta: I'm actually a woman.
Polly: Oh.
Maladicta: I am gay though.
Polly: OH??
