Hi! What is the most interesting thing you've found while sorting soil samples and malaise trap samples?
That is a super hard question since I’ve found so many weird things in the soil. For the soil samples, my favorites are diplurans because they’re really cool. You don’t find them often, but when you do it’s a treat. But the coolest thing I found in the dirt sample was a tardigrade. It was tiny, tiny and I haven’t found another since.
As for the malaise traps, I think the most interesting things I’ve found are huge springtails. These springtails are so big that you can see them easily with the naked eye. I’m guessing some are a centimeter long.
