മഴ....

കുഞ്ഞാടുകളായ പച്ചിലപ്പറവകളെ 

നാടൊട്ടുക്ക് മാമോദീസ മുക്കി; ഒഴുകുമായിരം 

ലാപ്പൂക്കളെ വെഞ്ചെരിച്ചനുഗ്രഹിച്ച്‌; 

വരളുമോർമ്മയ്ക്ക് കൂദാശയേകി; വഴിയൊഴി- 

ഞ്ഞിറങ്ങുന്നളവറ്റ പാപത്തിന്റെ കുമ്പസാരമേറ്റ്; 

മണ്ണും മരവും കടലും പകലിരവിന്റെ നക്ഷത്ര- 

കൂട്ടവും നിനവും കിനാവും കഴുകിയിറക്കി ― ഒടുവിൽ, 

അടരുമടപ്പുള്ളിളകുമോടയുടെളിയ നിത്യതയിൽ 

വിണ്മകനൊരള്ളാഹു അനന്തശയനം ചെയ്യുന്നു ― 

ശാന്തനായി, യാതൊരു ഗൃഹാതുരത്വവും കൂടാതെ.

Charming....

(Translation from Malayalam of excerpts of poem Mugdham {മുഗ്ദ്ധം} by G Kumara Pillai)

Like a drop of dew, like a 

Young flower bedecked by dew, 

Like the flower's tiny tender 

Pollen resting on its petal; 

.

Like a remembrance old or a 

Despair damp dozing mystically 

In the gentle scent ferried by the 

Breeze from distances far away; 

.

Like the caress of the breeze 

Slowly melting away craving 

One more faint melody from the lyre, 

Once the song has ended; 

.

With the traveller, shocked 

Off his sleep aboard a boat 

Docked in the immensely silent, 

Vast lagoon standing witness; 

.

Like the lamp sparkling somewhere, 

On the horizons that shine as a 

Thick shadowy line on the edges 

Of an already-dusky universe; 

.

No one can describe you, thou 

Intense fragility, who will crumble 

To dust even at the smoothest 

Touch by a language's cusp; 

.

The blooming wings of my 

Secure storge I keep clipped, 

And I fly for eternity, thou 

Emollient charm, all around you.

നാണയം....

ഒരു പകലിനൊരിരവുണ്ട്,

അതിരൊന്നിന് കടലും:

ഇരുപുറത്തിനും നോവുണ്ട്, 

പൂവുണ്ട്, കായും കിനാവുമുണ്ട്. 

എന്തുമലിഞ്ഞിറങ്ങുന്ന ലാവിലും 

തേവുന്ന രാവിന്റെ നിറങ്ങൾക്കും 

അരൾച്ചയുണ്ട്, ഒതുക്കവും ബലവുമുണ്ട്. 

ഒച്ചയേതിനും മിണ്ടായ്കയുണ്ട്, 

പാട്ടിലുണരാത്തൊരാട്ടമുണ്ട്, നിന്റെയന്തി-

ച്ചോപ്പിലും ലേശം പച്ചയുണ്ട്; ആർക്കു-

മറിയാത്ത നീലയും. ഉരുളുന്ന നാണയം 

കണക്കുള്ള ഹൃത്തിലും ഇടയുണ്ട് ― അരികുണ്ട്; 

വാർന്ന നീരിനെല്ലാം ഇറ്റു ചോരയുണ്ട്. 

എന്റെ ചിന്തയ്ക്കും ഓർമ്മയ്ക്കുമക്കരെ 

പുളയുന്ന കാലത്തിനർത്ഥവും,

കാമ്പും കിനാവുമുണ്ട് ― (ഒളിച്ചെങ്കിലും) 

ഉള്ളാഴത്തിലെ ഭൂതങ്ങളിൽ, സ്വപ്നങ്ങളിൽ, 

മാഞ്ഞ കോലങ്ങളിൽ നിറങ്ങളിൽ: 

ഇനിയാരും ഞാനല്ലെന്ന തോന്നലിൽ.

സ്നേഹം....

ഒടുങ്ങാത്ത സ്നേഹമൊന്നുണ്ടോ പെണ്ണേ,

ഒടുക്കത്തെ വീട്ടിലെ കളിവാക്കല്ലേ ഒക്കേം?

ഒഴിയുന്ന ചാലുകൾ നിറയുമെന്നാരോ

പൊളി പറഞ്ഞതാം, കൺകളാൽ, നാവാൽ.

ഊഷരം ഭൂവിൽ മഴക്കാടുകാണും ആത്മാവിൻ

മാഹേന്ദ്രജാലം, തുടരെ, ആവോള,മേറെയും

പൊള്ളപ്പകിട്ടിൽ തിമിർത്താടിയേറ്റുന്ന

മനസ്സിന്റെ മൃതിയൊച്ച കൊട്ടുന്ന പൂരം.

വർണശൂന്യം നിലാവിനെത്തേടി നാം

ഉഴറുന്ന വഴികളിൽ, ലോലഭംഗുരം

മഴവില്ലുകഷ്ണങ്ങൾ പൊട്ടിവീണുതിരുന്ന

പനീരുബാഷ്പത്തിന്നപഭംഗം സ്നേഹം.

ഇവിടെ നിനക്കായി ഞാൻ നീറ്റിലെഴുതുന്ന

ക്ഷണികമാം കാവ്യത്തിലരിയതാം

വരിയിലെ ഒടുങ്ങാത്ത മോഹങ്ങൾ

പറയാതെപോയതാം അറിയാവികാരങ്ങൾ

വലിയോരു മഴയായ് ചാറിക്കയറി

പ്രളയമായേറി, പാടേ ഒഴിയുമ്പോൾ

കരളിലെ ചെളിപൂണ്ട, നനഞ്ഞ മരുഭൂക്കളുണ്ടാ-

ക്കുന്ന മരീചികയാവോ, ഒടുങ്ങാത്ത സ്നേഹം?

എന്റെ മുറ്റത്ത് എന്നെ നോക്കി

ഊഞ്ഞാലാടുന്നത് മരണമാണ്.

ഉയർന്നും താഴ്ന്നും അതെന്റെ അടുത്തെത്തുകയും അകന്നുപോവുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

പരിഹാസം കലർന്ന അതിന്റെ നോട്ടം

എന്റെ ഏകാന്തമായ ഹൃദയത്തിലേക്കെറിയുന്ന കയറ്.

എന്റെ നിസ്സഹായത അതിന്റെ വിനോദം,

എന്റെ പരിഭവം അതിന്റെ മന്ദഹാസം.

അതിന്റെ കല്പാദങ്ങളിൽ ഈണമുള്ള ചിലമ്പ്, ഉടലിൽ കസവ്. അതിന്റെ ചിരി,

നിലയ്ക്കാത്ത വളക്കിലുക്കം .

എന്റെ നേരെ ചിലപ്പോഴൊക്കെ അത് കൈനീട്ടുന്നു

പിന്നോട്ടൊന്നാടി മറഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

ഞാൻ ജനാലഴികൾക്കപ്പുറത്താണ്

എന്റെ മുറ്റത്ത് മരണം ഊഞ്ഞാലാടുന്നു.
