“Is there something I can do for you, Ms. Malfoy?” She asked, raising a brow as she looked up from her work. She was surprised to say the least, out of all her students she never expected a Malfoy to seek her out.

When everything was said and done, when the house arrest was over, Draco and Cassiopeia left the Malfoy Manor that very night, and had gone their separate ways. And while they had tried to keep in contact, within a few months both of them just...stopped replying to each other’s letters, and Draco figured it was for the best. The War had been hard on both of them, and they needed their distance. Draco was searching for a cure. Cassiopeia was searching for closure.
It took a few years before Draco felt well enough to return to Britain. With the money he had in Gringotts, he ended up buying a small plot of land in Hogsmeade, just on the outskirts of the village, and built himself an apothecary. It took a long time before he gained any traction, but his potions work spoke for itself, and every cent he got in payment was poured back into charities, and compensation money to victims from the War. People in Hogsmeade tended to be more forgiving towards him once he spent money on trying to repair the rest of the damage there, and the younger students who came to Hogsmeade on their weekend trips were more than happy to come to his shop to browse and buy at their own leisure.
He didn’t really have a lot of friends though. He kept to himself too much. Pansy, Blaise and Theo made an effort, which he appreciated, and Greg was even able to send letters after he settled in Ireland after opening his sweets shop. And Draco did keep in contact with Narcissa, because he knew she would feel crushed if both of her children shunned her, and he loved her too much to blame her for all the hurt that had been caused during the War. But in the end, he scarcely spoke to anyone else, and it was somewhat a lonely life.
One spring morning, he was in his shop putting new ingredients on their designated shelves. A few cauldrons were bubbling away with some pre-made potions he was working on, and his back was turned when he heard the door open, the bell above it giving a pleasant jingle. “I’ll be right with you,” he said, levitating a jar of jimson weeds onto a top shelf. “Feel free to browse in the meantime.”

She didn’t know what she had been hit with but one minute she was fine, and the next her throat had closed and every single time she tried to take a breath in it was like hitting a brick wall. Not caring who it was around her in her desperate attempt to breath Ginny desperately attempted to communicate with the first person she saw.
It wasn’t until a few moments after the rush of air flooded her lungs that she looked up at her savior and froze. Practically feeling the wind get knocked out of her again, though thankfully it was figuratively speaking. Narrowed eyes she paused, still taking deep breaths, before nodding her head.
“Thank you.”

meme. accepting. [ @malfoydaughter ] !
👀 + A SHIP ( PLATONIC, ROMANCE, ETC. ) & I’LL GIVE 3 HEADCANONS !
Cass was the first person, and one of the only people, to know about Daphne’s mega - crush on Draco ! Daphne hadn’t even meant to tell her, but something slipped out, and there was this long, awkward silence between them. Cass got a front row seat to the phases of HORROR that came upon Daphne’s face right after she said it. First, the wide eyes and a big gasp, hands covering her mouth, did she just say that? Then the darting of her eyes, searching for some way to recover, and lastly, embarrassment & fearful rage, DON’T YOU DARE TELL ANYONE ! Daphne was fearful that Pansy would find out, so she swore Cass to secrecy. They were 15 at the time.
Daphne and Cass would spend a good deal of time in the library, or somewhere secluded from others, just to get away from their house - mates. During this time, they had a little game : silence. They could spend hours, never speaking a word, in each others’ company. Whoever broke the silence first, with words, lost the game; if Daphne lost, she’d have to read a poem of Cass’ choice aloud in the Slytherin common room. If Cass lost, she’d have to buy Daphne some sweets. Coughing, sniffling, and so on, didn’t count. Though, laughter did.
Due to their silence game, Daphne & Cassiopeia learned how to communicate non - verbally, and communicate it extremely well. In their adulthood, it takes a simple expression, gesture, or glance, and they know vaguely what to say in response. This works in their favor when they work together at Hogwarts, able to communicate in crisis or when need be without alerting the students, or others, to their conversation & quibble.
When Cassiopeia becomes Headmistress at Hogwarts in 2022, she can no longer carry the mantle of Head of Slytherin too, so she appoints Daphne as Head of Slytherin, which Daphne graciously accepts.
