In Detective Comics 621, cover date September 1990, Jack and Janet Drake, the parents of Tim Drake, learned that even if their ransom was paid, the Obeah Man intended to sacrifice them. Batman traveled to Haiti to rescue them. Janet accidentally drank poisoned water and died. Jack was paralized and in critical condition from his ordeal. Louis Dang failed to kill Batman and burned to death on a bed of flaming coals. The issue marked the last appearance of the Obeah Man. The pivitol story was republished in many collections.
