Thinking about stuff under a cut
I wonder how many people recycle old OCs into newer versions. I know I tend to do that since I like looking back at my old ideas and thinking “this could be neat to work with” or “I still like this character but havee different ideas for how I could incarnate them.”
Like for instance, with Prixlezub, if anyone has been here long enough to remember him, he got split from this guy:
Into these two; Falgyrac and Malifirrum:
Falgyrac was sort of a branch off into exploring how i would interpret Prixlezub’s kind of demon on the organic side of things that followed his original story, back when I wanted to update his species to look less like a creature with a car for a face. She retains most of the initial lore I had cooked up for Prixlezub back when I used to RP him: elemental powers, a dimension-hopping entity, abilities that bordered on the supernatural but not completely, subsisting on a diet of metallic minerals and meat, etc.
Whereas Malifirrum went the opposite way and was an exploration into the aspect of Prixlezub that he had been inspired from initially- demonically possessed machinery and the like. Since I really like that kind of horror as well and wanted to play around with it a little even though it probably doesn’t tend to fit with the tropes associated with those kinds of stories (or maybe at some point he will, I’m still sort of figuring him out).
The number of characters I have created by splitting the Mortis and KARR characters I rped a number of years back are a bunch too. Its almost like dividing entities into their own sort of pseudo family trees.
