What was the point of the Golden Arrow being used to de-phoenix Landon?

Are TBTB saying that Hope, the freakin’ loophole born to kill Malivore, would have been unable to kill Malivore if he had possessed a phoenix (or half-phoenix/human-phoenix hybrid, as it were)? Otherwise, what is the point of de-phoenixing Landon?

But if so, then Hope is hardly the special flower—nor the mythical loophole—they also make her out to be, so…they’ve once again neutered her/her powers.

Forever mad that the tiniest bit of info we got about Landon’s time in the prison world came from Malivore and not Landon himself. They put more effort into Malivore pretending to be a traumatized Landon than they ever did into the real Landon being traumatized. Like Landon fans really thought we were getting a trauma storyline in 3x13 and it ended up just being a trick. It’s sad how it became the norm in the show for them to make it seem like they were actually gonna do something significant for Landon’s character only to say psych.
