We have a new girl joining us at WWSDS. This is Mamaw Dixie she is a 14 yr old Chocolate Lab. She was found as a stray in Belmont, Mississippi by a group of rescuers. She has been in a foster home for a few months but really needs a hospice home. We are happy to be that for her. Mamaw Dixie when found was covered in ticks, was heartworm positive, and has a limp in one front leg. Either from being broken or dislocated and never received treatment. This girl has been through quite a lot and has needed somewhere safe and quiet to lay her head. She deserves it. She has been sick lately and on antibiotics. She will be getting a full work up when she arrives. We will determine if we can treat her heartworms or not and we most definitely will start her instantly on pain meds. She is flying with Pilots n Paws tomorrow and will arrive in Bolivar, MO where I will meet her. We are thankful she will be getting here quickly and thankful for generous hearts.
