Sweet Fletchers has found his place in life! That would be on the coziest couch possible! As you can see he has adjusted so well to family life and the life of comfort indoors! We have a new girl joining us at WWSDS. This is Mamaw Dixie she is a 14 yr old Chocolate Lab. She was found as a stray in Belmont, Mississippi by a group of rescuers. She has been in a foster home for a few months but really needs a hospice home. We are happy to be that for her. Mamaw Dixie when found was covered in ticks, was heartworm positive, and has a limp in one front leg. Either from being broken or dislocated and never received treatment. This girl has been through quite a lot and has needed somewhere safe and quiet to lay her head. She deserves it. She has been sick lately and on antibiotics. She will be getting a full work up when she arrives. We will determine if we can treat her heartworms or not and we most definitely will start her instantly on pain meds. She is flying with Pilots n Paws tomorrow and will arrive in Bolivar, MO where I will meet her. We are thankful she will be getting here quickly and thankful for generous hearts. This is Diesel, he will be joining the @whisperingwillowssds family tonight. This poor boy is late stage heartworm + and also has such bad allergies/skin issues. He has had constant ear infections untreated so he has lost most of his hearing. His person is moving and has left him alone for months due to her housing situation before that eight months ties outside. He deserves better than that, look at that innocent face. We are taking Diesel in on hospice. He is on slow kill heartworm treatment. We will be doing tests to see exactly where he is at, what is going on with his skin issues, and he's lost muscle mass on his head so we will be checking for other underlying issues. Through all of the heartache and neglect his heart lived through he still had more joy and happiness than anyone! We are very thankful that he got to spend his last chapter with us. Our sweet golden girl is feeling 100% better! Our Spring weather is awakening her Winter hibernation! Mr. Fletch is doing so well in his Forever Foster home. He did wonderful with introductions to the other dogs. No aggression or fear. Just a happy heart! We were told he was deaf and blind but we he has been responding which is wonderful news. He does have some hearing left. We are certain he can also see some shadows. His tail just never stops wagging. You would have no idea he is 13 with his upbeat energy. We bought him a brand new comfy bed! His first bed in his entire lifetime and boy does he love it! We are so thrilled to see the joy Fletch has and his resilient spirit. He has been through such abuse and neglect. He beat being put to sleep and is still so full of hope.
