Mammon did something epic in Mastermind and no one has pointed it out yet

So, let's talk about these two asshats for a sec

I've seen a lot of people praising them for voting to hear Blitz out and how nice Ozzie and Bee are. Well guess what? That's not what they did at all.

Think about it, why would they want to go easy on a lesser other than this supposed altruism?

I mean, it's gotta be that. After all it's not like both are actively in a relationship with a lesser hellborn and would consequently have a motive to ecourage the law to show leniency to lesser hellborn.

OH WAIT

Yeah, I'm just gonna say it, they didn't give a flying fuck about giving Blitz a fair trial, they just wanted to make it easier on their partners. The fact that the trial happened to be of a lesser hellborn they knew just made it easier for them.

Now, for the part this is titled after.

Mammon, being the 9000 IQ gigachad he is CALLS THEM OUT ON THEIR SHIT (he's referring to Tex here) in front of everyone!

The best part is why he did. He's a jester, mocking the royals for their folly IS HIS THING. He might be jovial and childish, but he's not dumb. He can read people like books and roast the fuck out of them with minimal effort.

I can safely say this has moved Mam from one of my all time favorite characters, to THE all time favorite character.

The next time we see this glorious bastard, he'd better be singing or so help me. I would genuinely kill to hear Mike Cusack sing in Mam's voice.

Trick or treat ?

Treat!

Here's a cute little idea, Mammon would sometimes end up looking after baby Charlie, he initially thought it would by annoying but would try to entertain her with little tricks (using his stripped tongue like a noisemaker and so on). He ended up finding her so cute that he would frequently volunteer to babysit her. Even in the present, where Charlie wouldn't usually like to associate with someone like Mammon, and vice-versa, the two actually get along great and have a lot of niece-uncle in-jokes. In case you're wondering, yes, Asmodeus is jealous of this.

More Golden Goose (Mammon x Stella) stuff! (and some other HCs)

Much like the last volume, this batch of ideas will contain some HCs that are only included by virtue of association with a Golden Goose one.

Mammon doesn't have any chefs in his house staff, partly because he doesn't want the extra expense, but also because he actually enjoys cooking and is very skilled at it. This comes as a pleasant surprise to Stella and Octavia.

Contrasting the last one, Ozzie is actually a pretty sloppy cook and doesn't know many recipes, it's just that, unlike Fizz, the things he makes can at least be called food. The only reason they didn't have a chef was to lessen the risk of someone "discovering" their relationship. The first thing Asmodeus did after the mid-season special was put out a chef wanted ad.

Stella will often tell Mam stories about Via as a little kid and show him any accompanying photos she has. He's always enthralled by these and starts his own family photo album shortly after the first time Stella does this. Mammon sometimes spends minutes on end looking at the album, it's come closer than anything else to making him run late for a meeting.

Whenever they cross paths Mam chews out Stolas for treating his family like shit. Stolas tries the defend himself the first time but Mammon doesn't let him pull his scummy excuses. After that, Stolas would just fume in silence and shame whenever this happens.

Via eventually starts writing and composing her own songs and puts together an album. Mam and Stella are super proud but also not sure what to do when it comes to releasing it. After a long family discussion, Mam decides Via can perform it, but only at an exclusive royal gathering, while it's publicly released later under the stage name Great Eclipse, with a slight voice modifier.

Stella has a deep appreciation of art, especially performance art. Any performance that's any performance will have Greed's royal family in the audience. Stella also often listens to Via's songs in her free time.

Stella sometimes calls Mammon "Muffin" as a pet name. Her reasoning is that he's big, warm, soft and sweet (and she loves the way he tastes).

Lastly, for some angst and comfort: Early into the relationship Stella often felt a sense of not being good enough for or being a burden to Mam, as she didn't have much varied life experience. This would sometimes throw her into manic depressive states and bring out her more aggressive side. The first time this happened Mam freaked out and was terrified that he'd lose Stella. Luckily, Via was able to smooth out the situation and tell Mammon about her mom's problems and the signs that she's having a "mood". Ever since then, if Mam even thinks that Stella is having those self deprecating intrusive thoughts he makes sure to do something extra just for her. No matter how small it is, Stella always cherishes it and these issues almost completely disappear by the time they get married.

Hellaverse Black Friday headcanons

For the longest time I've had the idea of Black Friday being a major cultural holiday in the Greed ring, so here's some ideas on how that works. (shoutout to @thatguywhodoesstuff for helping workshop some of these)

The spirit of the holiday is celebrating the spirit of the free market, hence the tradition of selling at least one object for good luck.

There's a unique style of combat associated with breaking through crowds. Most Greedites are trained in it at some point and it's a common hand-to-hand style even among it's crime syndicates.

A more holiday-ish tradition is for men to hook a small black tag with a white percent symbol on it to the left side of their shirt's collar. Women hook it to the right side. In recent years it's become common for nonbinary demons to hang it in the middle of their collar.

In a similar vein, it's customary for homes with yards to put up a gold balloon for every resident of the household.

Mammon has a personal tradition of using a pair of giant ceremonial scissors cut a large banner with an artistic rendering of the word "prices" as a way to formally commemorate the start of the shopping.

It's considered bad luck to discount something by specifically 5%. No one is quite sure where this superstition came from, not even Mam.

There are 4 traditional names for kids born on Black Friday. Deal and Frank(lin) for boys, Sale and Budgette for girls.

A Mammon Analysis Written By A Mammon Kinnie! :8D

It's time to make y'all love this magnificent bastard even more than you already do so we can finally have something just happen in this fandom!

First off, the analysis.

A lot of people seem to think of Mammon as "dumb" or "oblivious", when he's far from either. Mammon is actually a very intelligent and attentive person, but just like most subtle things about him, it can be hard to notice because of his eccentricities.

As far as I see it, Mammon views everything he does as an investment to some extent, whether it be a literal monetary one or one of time, effort and/or attention. This is also one of the big things that make him so relatable to me. It's also worth noting that as a flipside to this, he also sees any option he's presented with in terms of physical or emotional value and trying to maximize said value as much as possible.

Mam doesn't interrupt "Two Minutes Notice" not because he's stupid, but because insults don't truly detract from the value of him or anything he has, not to mention the fact that he could tell that a lot of people would be willing to buy the song, just look how many are hanging of Fizz's every word when he describes having a crappy boss.

Likewise, criticizing Fizz's weight is something Mam solely does because it helps profits and has no genuine personal issue with Fizz potentially getting chunkier.

This shows something else interesting about Mammon, he doesn't really want to do destructive things, people just keep giving him every reason to do so, he's not dangerous on his own.

Every action Mam takes that makes Fizz uncomfortable is a direct result of him catering to what the consumers want, whether it be religiously watching his spokesman's weight for the sake of keeping the skinny sex-bots accurate, or forcing a mentally unstable person to spend a lot of time socializing to get people to pay admission for a meet-&-greet.

There's also the fact that he runs Greed in such a way that benefits Hell as a whole way more than Ozzie and Bee do. Admittedly, he over charges for his products, but said products are up to snuff, you'd expect him to peddle cheap junk that falls apart almost instantly, but no, he makes quality products and just charges extra. He really is a shrewd businessman when you get down to it, and that's something a lot of people have sadly overlooked when discussing our favorite spider.

Which brings me to my next point, Mammon being a spider is actually really clever, assuming what I'm about to describe was intended and not just me reading too much into a cheap Australia joke. Spiders are often shown as eerie and a way of reminding the viewer of a piece of media that nature can be scary, and though they do some really weird and freaky stuff, that's also the beauty of spiders. They have some of the most innovative and distinct hunting patterns in nature, they're more of a neutral presence, just like greed itself.

I've seen many people claim in their analysis of Mammon that "greed can't be good" which is just demonstrably untrue, greed is really just any action that prioritizes bettering oneself, it's only destructive if you are willing to be destructive, but even then it can lead to innovation and broad positive change, even if someone is worse off because of it.

Lastly, I want to discuss Mammon's obvious need for personal affection, the big guy is blatantly touch starved and craves a close connection, I have a rather headcanon-y idea about the origin of this behavior and I plan to link to it once I post about it in detail, but that can wait. However, this does reflect that idea of value and investment, Mam has yet to find someone who is both pleasant for him to be around and whose company has a reasonable "price". I see many possibilities for exploring this facet of his characterization and look forward to seeing the discussion about it grow.
