Styx were another band whose progressive rock hewed closer to pop. Their idiom resembled that of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, although their later soundscapes developed into even greater arena rock. They took the notion of the word gigantic somewhere circa The Grand Illusion, which is why it is surprising to hear their early albums where you can notice the influence of the 60's progressive rockers that they molded into a tone that occasionally resembles Queen. O.K., we cannot say the same for this one from Man Of Miracles that sounds like a multitude pastoral symphonies in the form of many English progressive rockers with its gentle instrumental backing and harmonized vocals. Actually, this one seems to recall The Beach Boys with a harder edge.
