On the topic of art programs, I recommend Krita! It's free and in my experience, quite good! I have also found it to be a bit more user friendly than Gimp.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! I’m certain it will help others out. I haven’t personally used Krita before, but it looks great. I’ll definitely have to check that one out some time.

Wait, what was the thing about vulcans wearing rings?

Vulcan hand sensitivity :D Since they kiss with their hands, fandom has suggested wearing a ring is kinky. That’s why I’m kinkshaming hot dad for wearing not only one ring but more. lol

If the bird was digesting the gem shards, does that mean that it was, in a way, slowly forcing them to fuse with it?

Digestion I’d think would be more an absorption and breakdown of properties- while fusion is a blending based on relationships and cooperation. So no, that’s not fusion to me.

I'm not so sure that Rainbow Quartz is a particularly stable fusion, as Pearl obviously had malevolent intent towards Greg, whereas (1/?) Rose didn't. Pearl shielded that from the fusion, and I'm surprised that difference didn't invalidate or immediately split the fusion. I mean, it's not like gems can't force a fusion when not in a relationship or close friendship, but there's a certain connectivity that has been implied with fusions like Garnet or Stevonnie. I feel like it's about a shared

intent, and that wasn't there between Pearl and Rose. I mean, they literally see things differently while they're Rainbow Quartz. While the single-set of arms at least implies that they're close, just don't see it as a possible lasting relationship, at least as long as we view fusions as reflecting a relationship.

Yeah, agreed. Rainbow Quartz two sets of eyes to me really pushes the idea that Rose and Pearl have very different viewpoints. In that moment mainly their views on Greg.
