@notesz-b - inspired by something somewhat similar at work today lol.
At exactly 8.55am, Death wandered into his office, skimming over his pending tasks for the day. Task one: Coffee.
He pulled open the top drawer and reached for the telltale ceramic handle of his mug, "Coffee mug... coffee mug...” he muttered impatiently, “where is my- Dave, Macon!" he suddenly called over his shoulder.
"Yes, sir?"
"Yes sir, Death, sir?"
"Have you seen my coffee mug anywhere?”
"Coffee mug..."
"Coffee mug..."
"Yes yes, coffee mug. I need it now."
"Fluorescent mauve coffee mug, sir?"
"With a quirky 'Shuh Duh Fuh Cup' print on it, Death sir?"
“Yes yes, that’s the one. If I find that either of you has taken it," he let the words hover ominously in the air, his fingers drumming in definite stomps on his desk.
Dave gulped audibly and said, “It wasn’t me, sir.”
Macon gulped audibly and said, “...”
A heavy shadow loomed over Strife’s assistant. “Macon?”
He shuffled uncomfortably. "I saw it, sir, but..."
"But?"
"I don’t think you’d want it back."
"Why is that?"
"Because... I saw Strife sir lounging in his chair, drinking out of it."
Silence then, save for the infuriating ‘hamster dance’ song blasting from the other room.
"I see,” he said at last. “Was he still in his office when you last saw him?”
“No, sir.”
“Excellent,” he exclaimed cheerfully with a sounding clap of his hands, making both human assistants jump. “You boys are dismissed."
-At exactly 9:05am-
“Ahh, what better way to start the day than with a nice cup of coffee?”
A minute later, Strife was retching violently into a toilet bowl.
