This has turned into a culture (one small part) /support analysis as well, so it can be regarded as such. I may be wrong, so be openminded when reading. Support Analysis-ishes for:
Subaki X F!KamuiSubaki X HanaSubaki X Luna
{I’m always a slut for Subaki Sure! I’d be glad to do my Hoshido husbando! Again, my opinion. If you don’t agree, you have my SINCEREST apologies. Note sarcasm. :) }
{I love Subaki x F!Kamui because I’mma grab that ass. Basically, Subaki offers to train Kamui, but is interrupted by his stomach growling. He then runs off, embarrassed that his “perfect self” couldn’t have avoided such.
{The next time they see each other, Kamui walks in on him eating. He’s okay with it, until she brings up that everyone has been talking about it, and then refers to the other day with the stomach growls. Kamui goes on to say that she’s worried about his physical condition. One day he’s starving himself (unintentionally), the other he is overeating (intentionally). The fact that she is this worried when she barely knows him (B means…I know a bit more than I did when we first started talking) is adorable, but that could just be Kamui’s character. At the end of the support, Subaki says he’ll consider do otherwise, and says that he’d be too embarrassed if the others heard it. Kamui presses, but then he leaves. Like, right away.
{The A basically is Kamui offering to help him find a solution, and Subaki getting awkward about it because he almost never makes mistakes (that’s a mistake??? Really???) so he does not know how to deal with them. Kamui offering her help really makes him feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Subaki’s aiming to be perfect often leaves him high and dry. Kamui then becomes his partner, and it is sorta like a proposal, I dunno hah hah….
{Finally the S (and two more support sets hah….). This starts with Subaki approaching Kamui, and they talk over their solution (which is apparently sit ups??? Eh….SCIENCE). After that, Subaki asks for help with another problem; the matter of his heart. He fell in love with her acceptance of his imperfections - he, the nearly perfect husbando pegasus warrior and retainer of Sakura. Kamui is taken aback at first, of course, but accepts immediately. She is glad that he wants to lean on someone aND I JUST I CAN’T BE SERIOUS ANYMORE THIS SHIP OH MY GODS.}
{Next up is Subaki X Hana. This is really cute too. Ohmygodsitnearlykillsme. So it opens up with Hana approaching him and basically teasing him for going around and trying to be perfect (like his catchphrase is basically “I’m peeeeeerfect~” with the tilde. In the Japanese version, anyway.). He asks what’s wrong with that and it launchs into her ranting about him. (“That’s because everyday, everyday…from people who don’t know about Tsubaki’s real character I get “Kazahana? Oh, you work with that handsome Tsubaki-san, right? I’m so jealous~” or, like, “It must be nice being near Tsubaki-san who doesn’t ever make mistakes~”?”) He takes those as compliments though. I don’t blame him, hah hah…She immediately shoots him down after that, recalling an experience he had with a horse, and saying that he is not perfect. Naturally, he gets upset. Mandelia gets upset about these things a lot hah hah…It then turns into a battle to prove who is the best retainer.
{First up for their contest is fencing in the B. Now, I know you’re all thinking “Hana totally whooped his ass! She’s a swordswoman!” Nope. Subaki anticipated that this day would come and has been watching her for fucking ever. This can be one of two things: he loves that ass or he genuinely wanted to know just in case. I am voting for the former. Subaki being Subaki exclaims that he is perfect. Mandelia certainly is a nice contrast from Cordelia, who was more lowkey–Sorry, not the time or place.
{Now onto A. Subaki is a bit uneasy about the horseback riding competition that is in this one. But he notices Hana looking uneasy as well, and asks what is wrong. So, well, he cares to some extent. The love really starts to show here, tbh. But no, in reality, she isn’t uneasy. In fact, he only thought that because she was acting different. She was being more calm about it. And she creams Subaki because of it. In the end, the moral is “Our reason for competing is to see which of us is stronger, not who is better suited protect Lady Sakura. It is better that we are strong in protecting and can work together, not be strong as opposing sides.” They end the competitions after that.
{To the S. Subaki explains why exactly he was so embarrassed: It was because he had the hots for Hana, and, well, embarrassed himself in front of her. Now, how cute and Inigo-like is that? It’s fucking amazing in my opinion. He then is afraid that Hana thinks of him as just a colleague, but she says otherwise and they get hitched. and both swear to protect Sakura together but that isn’t important this ship is.}
{Jesus fucking Christ. I wrote so much. Well, now onto the last support that I think is cute. Subaki x Luna. I bet you all saw this coming what with my Luna!Matoi blog. Holy shit man. This ship. I love the CUSTOM supports Luna has with Matoi that comes from this due to her inferiority complex, and Matoi being her mother rein-fucking-carnated.
{First things first, in the C Luna loses Cordelia’s ring like the cute little sinnamon roll she is. Subaki finds it and that is where our conversation starts. Luna has heard of the Perfection of Byakuya (Hoshido) and has been wanting to duel him forever, presumably because he reminds her of her mother. She complains that pegasi are only for the “purest of maidens” like Sumia and Cordelia. It is then explained that the pegasi are not what Nohr and Hoshido have. Respectively, the sub/other species are Nohr Falcons and Hoshido Tenma (possibly referring to the twelve Tenma goddesses from Tibetan Buddhism, a practice in Japan. Pegasi are sacred, and born from a god, so why not?). Naturally, this annoys Luna, and she automatically assumes that he is claiming victory. He doesn’t reciprocate the feeling. In the end they decide to have contests, and Luna thanks him for finding the ring.
{The B is next. This is a cook off, and Luna has lost most of the other contests already. Luna makes the infamous stew from Morgan and Robin’s (?) supports. She has various cuts and burns, and Subaki takes note of this, telling her to stop. She gets pissed, and yells at him for being perfect. She obviously sees her mother in there, and he even fathers Cordelia’s reincarnation, so why not? Hah….That’s basically it for the B.
{Now onto the A. Subaki approaches Luna with stew he had made from the recipe. In a word, it was a failure. He goes on to say that he was only seen as perfect and a genius at first because he put so much effort into everything he did. Luna starts crying at this, and then finally tells her story. She says (confirming my previous theory) that Subaki reminds her of Cordelia. Luna tells him that she died, and she only wanted to win at all costs to show that she was better since she was always compared to her mother. Mandelia was perfect for her to redeem herself in her own eyes. They then conclude that they are the same and agree to not go easy on each the next time they meet.
{The S Support starts with a decoration contest. So many contests in these supports….So Luna procures a woman’s ring and shows Subaki, but he just nods and they continue on. Luna notes that he’s rather meek and weird that day, which pisses her off. Subaki doesn’t return the insult and instead asks why Luna wants to become the very best (like no one ever was. To catch them was her real test, to train them was her cause. She would travel across the land search–*shot*) He asks if it is to shine in Cordelia’s eyes, and basically says she doesn’t need that, because he already thinks she is the best. HERE ARE THE SCREAMS. He hands her a ring much like Cordelia’s. So alike that Luna thinks it is her ring. He said that he memorized the appearance when he first picked it up and then remade it. Either he has photographic memory, or he intentionally did it because he liked her as well. *shrugs* A girl can dream that that is a canon reason and that his ship is just that. Luna then nearly refuses because the “ring is too lovely-made” for someone like her. Even in her mother’s death, she feels she is undeserving of Cordelia’s ring. This is symbolic, however. It is Subaki’s way of saying “Hey. Your mom was perfect? The only perfect I see is the girl right in front of me; the one that holds my heart is the most perfect woman I have ever seen. You’re just as perfect as your mother - even more so.” I cannot stress how much I love this ship. It is beautiful. And ends on the a pretty good note. Subaki challenges her to make him a ring just as nice, and boy, I hope she delivers.}
{Sorry this is so long! Gods….Look at it! BUT I DON’T CARE I LOVE HIS ASS}
"No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."
