A very interesting wine made in Syros https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syros by the Greek grape variety Mandilaria https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandilaria . This is how the producer describes it: “Mandilaria, PGI Cyclades,12,5%vol. Red Fabrica is a light and fresh red wine, with soft, cherry, vanilla and tomato aromas. It is medium bodied, with mellow tanins, breezy acidity, plenty of fruit and freshness in the aftertaste. Even during summertime it is delightful to taste it slightly cool, as an aperitif or for accompanying greek and Aegean dishes, like stuffed tomatoes, eggplants, but also red fish like tuna, pasta with tomato sauce, light braised meat, etc.” I found a bright medium+ purple color wine with tears staining the glass. Clean on the nose with medium intensity aromas suggesting of plum, dark cherry, dark berries, strawberry jam, sweet spice, vanilla and cloves. Developing. Dry with medium+ acidity, medium- alcohol, medium soft and thin-grained tannins, medium body with medium+ flavor intensity displaying plum, dark cherry, dark berries, strawberry jam, sweet spice, vanilla and cloves. It has a medium aftertaste and an overall generous fruit, complemented by a refreshing acidity. Very good quality wine with balance between the fruit and oak influence. Great to enjoy now but can age at least another 5 years. Ideal to accompany meat dishes in the company of loved ones.
