A majestic red wine from Tinos from a great producer. This is how they describe the wine: “100% Mavrotragano from the magnificent Clos Stegasta vineyard. Fermentation with whole berries and whole bunches in big oak casks with indigenous yeasts isolated from our vineyards. The wine matures for about a year in 500lts oak barrels, 20% of which are new. Tasting Notes: A seductive wine with a plethora of aromas. Oregano and violets are wrapped around a core of dark cherries, green pepper and espresso roast. The palate sets the ground along with the velvety tannins cutting through a complex and complete finish. A spherical wine seamlessly textured with no hard edges in sight. Delicious early on, better with age.” I found a clear, bright deep ruby color wine with tears on the glass. Clean on the nose with medium intensity aromas suggesting of red cherry, strawberry, cranberry, prune, raspberry, wet leaves and vanilla. Still developing. Dry on the palate with medium+ acidity, medium fine-grained tannins, medium+ alcohol, medium+ body and medium+ flavor intensity displaying red cherry, strawberry, cranberry, prune, raspberry, wet leaves and vanilla. Medium+ length with red fruit and sweet spices aftertaste. Very good quality wine with balance between its generous fruit, zesty acidity and silky tannins, high fruit concentration and complexity and medium+ length. Good to drink now but could age another 5-10 years due to its structure and acidity. An amazing wine to pair with meat dishes in the company of loved ones. Thank you!
