I find the story of Angelic Lady, utterly fascinating
Because by all means and accounts, Jana is doing almost everything that Angela did, yet she’s the heroine.
And that’s not what’s interesting, cause a lot of the time villainess manhuas do it. They just never acknowledge it and sweep it under the rug.
But it feels like this Manhua ALMOST wants to call it into action. ALMOST wants to say “Jana isn’t a good person”, constantly framing her as someone who would lie, cheat and manipulate others just to get what she wants.
Yet it never fully commits. And it’s entirely because of ML, Dane.
Her reasoning for never going back with her original fiancé is “In a past life you were brainwashed by magic potion that forced you to fall for someone you didn’t love and betray me. I can’t trust you anymore, even though you won’t drink that potion this time, and you worship the ground I walk on”
And I can’t buy it cause it has the same ring as “you cheated on me in my dreams so I’ll break up with you”
And I can’t buy it even MORE when the one she’s pursuing is THE LITERAL CROWN PRINCE.
That, added with the fact she’s subtly acting like Angela more and more, feels…like she’s deliberately using and discarding men to climb socially.
Which I wouldn’t mind, if that’s how it was framed. But this story is soooo hell bent in still framing her as a good person - even though everything about her speaks that she’s also a trashy person (just a competent one) - that any nuance is completely washed away
