Manic. Freaking. Focus. Real name: John "Jmac" McCarten.
My first time seeing him perform was at the renown festival that is "Hulaween." It was his soulful beats and unconventional electronic mixes that first caught my attention despite the clouds of dust attempting to muffle his music.
Manic Focus is a one-person artist originally from the Twin Cities but is Chicago-based, as his bio states.
My favorites that he played were "Life Goes On" featuring Griz, "Snap Like This" featuring Artifakts and Jesus Coomes, and lastly, Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" remix.
His music fits into no-one genre and continues to transcend into multi-dimensional levels. Curious to see him? You can catch him at Suwanee Hulaween's fifth-year festival on October 26-28, 2018, in Live Oak, Fl. Tickets range from $199 to $269 dollars (not including fees or parking passes).
