One of the reasons why this clip of Futurama still is relevant is due to the fact that it's not the obnoxious machismo that made Leela lower her guard, but the fact that Zapp used his own vulnerability in order to get pity sex out of her. In other words, people can use false sensitivity in order to guilt or pity you into giving them a chance.
Macho meatheads are easy to spot and avoid, but emotional manipulators are harder to decipher and can be at times even more dangerous that the obvious ones. Zapp might not be that smart, but he does know when to play on people and Leela thankfully saw through to his game afterwards.
