Another one of my attempts at astro-photography. On Saturday night, #ManningParkDarkSky guests were shuttled up to the Cascade Lookout. To the south, @manningpark. To the north and east, an abyss of darkness over the mountains with only the tips of trees giving away the elevation. Our workshops earlier in the day helped us star-hop and identify constellations, comets and asteroids. Heaters and hot chocolate kept us warm in between exposures clicking from cameras on tripods as midnight approached. This morning the final event of the #manningparkdarksky astronomy weekend was a solar viewing session at Lightning Lake. To round out our autumn adventure at @manningpark John and I took a walk around the lakes. 1.9km to Rainbow Bridge and another 2.9km looping back to the picnic area. Went stargazing last night at @manningpark’s Cascade Lookout. I put some of my new knowledge to use from the last few days of workshops as a part of Manning’s first Dark Sky Astronomy Weekend. My photos could still use a little work but I’m really happy with the ones that turned out.
