Funeralistic is the second album by Quakers and Mormons. I've been honored to take care of all their artwork so when they asked me to work on the cover art for this album, I already had a clear vision of how it had to look like. 

The album concept is the "Death", so i wanted it to be as solemn as possible. Following the path started on the previous album, I chose to use another woodcut, this time taken from Hans Holbein's "Danse Macabre", entitled "Death and the Bishop"; the pure, empty white space is the perfect comment to it, no words are written on the front cover, giving to the scarlet Death its own weight and importance, as no comment is needed for this powerful image: all the text is condensed in the back cover (song titles) and in the inner sleeve (credits, lyrics).

On the inner sleeve, another woodcut representing hell, following the same color pattern; my only complaint is the huge amount of text, which required a lot of space, and gave an overall claustrophobic look to the lyrics.

Classic 12" jacket with a silver pantone print with lyrics poster. Heavy "Notturno" black rough cardboard + Bone white heavy paper.

The bold, silver cross on the cover (which actually became the official band logo) has been realized through many references, ranging from electronic bands (These New Puritans), postrock bands (Godspeed You! Black Emperor), and gothic cemeteries: the main aim was to create something epic and dark but somehow spiritual and mistic.

The lyrics poster features "The four horsemen of apocalypse", a beautiful linocut by one of my favourite artists ever: Albrecht Dürer.

The records are hand numbered on the inner sleeve with a silver marker and have been hand assembled.
