A lovely knit maple leaf shawl. I like how it makes me feel like some kind of autumn witch when I wear it!
I've got about 10 rows left of the main body. Looking forward to actually getting to a new color. So far I've got the blue based purple, the red based purple, and next I'll hit that actual red, and finally the orange/yellow.
The color transitions are more noticable in person. I think I finally hit the 4th one last night.
And the set is complete! I've now made a version of this shawl for each season, and the spring bulbs were even up in time for the pictures
Six years ago, I acquired some Madelintosh 80/10/10 Fingering someone was selling off. It's lingered in my stash since then, waiting for just the right project. A few days ago, I was reminded of a pattern which I've had for even longer for a Maple Leaf Shawl (Ravelry Link). While I already have more than one project on the needles, my fingers are itchy, so I'm casting on today.

It’s off my needles and ready to be blocked. Maple Leaf Shawl. Used two skeins of the fabulous @zenyarngarden superfine Fingering in Red Maple. So happy with it. Thanks to @londonyarns and the perfect idea for #Canada150. #ldnont #knittersofinstagram #shawlknitting #mapleleafshawl #IamCanadian
Life Cycle of the maple leaf shawl
It's finally turning a different color now. Only took half the main body.
Its hard to see I took a couple closer up.
Instead of the just blueish purple its now got the lighter color mixed in. I am happy to have something new to look at after 50+ rows of the exact same color.
I've found I like color variegated yarns because I enjoy watching the color changes while I make things. But I also find that I don't like super colorful finished pieces.
So I guess I can at least make colorful stuff for kiddo and mine will just be less fun to make in the moment. I loved making that rainbow scarf for her. But I would never wear something like that myself.
