Hmph. I ran.
I mapped it out on mapmyrun.com and it says it's about 2.4 miles. I am pretty sure I ran like 1.8 miles of this because of the searing pain I get when I run for more than 5 minutes. But, I ran!
My new fitness plan WORKS
I've been counting calories with Sparkpeople.com and exercising everyday. I map my walk/run with Mapmyrun.com. I know both sites offer both functions but I like to use the best from each one. I LOVE IT! And I'm already losing weight.
Also, I've been experimenting with some fun healthy dishes. There may be a new page on the blog in the future, we shall see.
Look out, May 26th wedding guests!
p.s. getting a full nights rest EVERY NIGHT also helps BIG TIME!
In My Zone
Yesterday I decided to try my hand at Urban running. Since I started p90x again, I havent gone for a run in about 3 weeks. Feeling inspired by everyone back home training for marathons I have been wanting to get back into it, but in the big city it was hard finding relatively safe running paths. I usually would go to the Ecological Reserve in Costanera Sur, but the cold and rain was sure to make the dirt paths muddy. Besides, I am tired of dumping my shoes when they fill up with mini pebbles. Instead, yesterday I ran the streets of Paseo Colon up to Avenida Libertador stopping just short of Recoleta before heading back. According to Mapmyrun.com this comes to about 3.9 miles and I, surprisingly, enjoyed it. I didnt even mind having to frequently change pace to weave around slow walkers, loose pavement, traffic, and doggy surprises. I guess it was "runner's high"; I was in a zone and only focused on getting to my destination. The benefits to my health, though, are debatable; My lungs have surely expanded and improved blood circulation is a plus, but breathing in the pollution might have undone all that was good. I tried to hold my breath when I passed a crowd of people (everyone smokes) or whenever a bus went by, but since it was rush hour there was no way to avoid it. Next time I think I will try the parks of Palermo which I hear is a popular running spot.

V's Notes: Great run! Hilly! Lots of pretty scenery - Route Mapped on #MapMyRUN
Last night, K & I went for a run. What we thought would be a short 2 - 3 mile run turned into a 5 mile run & surprisingly, we were totally okay with the extra distance! The run was (gasp, do I dare say) FUN! The houses in the neighborhoods are Ah-mazing!
If you are in the cathedral heights area (where Wisconsin avenue + Mass Avenue intersect) and are looking for some physical exercise, try this route!
This site kicks Nike+'s ass!!
This site is awesome for everything from tracking/gauging runs, to motivation tips, race notifications and tons more stuff. I use this a lot because I tend to head off in different directions each night to 1) keep my runs fresh & 2) not be corralled by red lights - since I'm a city running gal.
The Nike+ people could take some notes from them. The Nike+ website is ATROCIOUS. Pretty and seems cool, but very rarely operational.
Great work MapMyRun!!
