this one is about a year or so old... they took a perfectly good dragon and put it underwater!
So that Maraquan Flotsam am I right
I colored in the Maraquan Flotsam first because I was dreading coloring it the most so I wanted to get it out of the way first and by the time I finished him I was too tired to do shading on everyone else lmao

What do you think about the aquatic pet styles?
The aquatic pet styles are probably some of the least necessary out the "dynamic" category of pet styles, in the sense that most Maraquan pets already had unique poses. Therefore, the aquatic styles mostly just consist of a handful of post-conversion pets and then a bunch of pets that are just getting a different pose. The styles themselves look fine, but I would rather TNT focus on colors, even mundane ones, that don't have any pet styles available.
As with previous reviews, I'll be going over the styles that are most improved over their base versions rather than just ones I like that already had great base versions.
Gnorbu: The converted Maraquan Gnorbu looks unnerving decapitated due tot the arms barely being visible under the tentacles and the body being too small relative to the head. The transparency effects also make it hard to read. The pet style has it posed more upright (like an actual jellyfish) and the body tentacle is more prominent, which fixes this issue. I also like the larger amount of dark blue and the face, which is extremely cute.
Xweetok: The standard Maraquan Xweetook is fine; sea slugs aren't something that feel like they need to be dynamic, after all. However, I do like the pet style. It's a nice nod to the backwards-facing pre-conversion circle pose of the Xweetok, and it makes the design feel just a bit more lively without being too over-the top. You also can see all of the elements of the design clearly despite it facing backwards.
Poogle: To be blunt, I don't like the Maraquan Poogle's design, and the pet style isn't changing that. However, I will say that the vicious expression is very fun and at least acknowledges the closest thing to a concept here, that being that both Poogles and sharks have razor-sharp teeth. The underbelly helps add a lot of color to the design, and the line weight has been fixed to actually be consistent throughout. Still not great-looking, but a lot better than it was.
